The standard module will become deprecated, as Bitly do not plan to keep the version 2 API around forever. Then, when you call Bitly.new(username, api_key) you will get a Bitly::V3::Client instead, which provides the version 3 api calls (shorten, expand, clicks, validate and bitly_pro_domain). You can setup your own caching layer with the ‘memoise’ package if you wish to have a speedup during single sessions or add larger dependencies, such as ‘Redis’, to gain a longer-term performance boost at the expense of added complexity.

Whenever this is required, we think that deferring all the uglify/package stuff to Webpack, maybe used as a serverless plugin, could be a great idea.

OCamURL-server - A URL shortener server with a GraphQL API written in OCaml.

  •    OCaml

A URL shortener sever written in OCaml with a GraphQL API. Check out the web client. Throughout development and after release, a few have asked why I chose OCaml over ReasonML since both can be transpiled to JavaScript and the client is written in Reason. Some of it is practical: I learned about OCaml before Reason and even once I knew of Reason, I didn't know it could be compiled to a native binary until later. And at the point, I found that BuckleScript isn't compatible with OCaml > 4.02.3, but both ocaml-mariadb and ocaml-garphql-server require 4.05.0 or greater.
