OpenTomb - An open-source Tomb Raider 1-5 engine remake

OpenTomb is an open-source re-implementation of the classic Tomb Raider engine, intended to play levels from all classic-era Tomb Raider games (1—5), as well as custom TRLE levels. The project does not use any of the original Tomb Raider code, as all attempts to retrieve source files from Eidos/Core were in vain. Instead, everything is being re-developed completely from scratch. It should be noted, however, that OpenTomb uses certain legacy routines from unfinished open-source projects, such as OpenRaider and VT project (found at icculus.org), plus some code from Quake Tenebrae.

This is a work in progress C port of “The Great Escape”: the classic isometric 3D game for the 48K Sinclair ZX Spectrum in which you execute a daring escape from a wartime prison camp. Loosely based on the film of the same name, it was created by Denton Designs and published in 1986 by Ocean Software. I reverse engineered the original game from a binary snapshot of the Spectrum version, decoding the graphics, data tables and all of the logic. Originally written in Z80 assembly language, I have translated it into portable C where now builds and runs without an emulator on macOS and Windows. Eventually it could run on mobile platforms and in a web browser.

lemmings.js - HTML5 Lemmings Clone/Remake

This is a Lemmings Clone/Remake using only HTML5 / Javascript. It uses the original .dat Files of the DOS game. No converting of Images and Levels is required. This is a work in progress project and at the moment you can't play the game. Use the URL Fragment identifier (#) to select/load a Level e.g. lemmings.js/main.html#10 for Level 10 or Levelcode e.g. lemmings.js/main.html#CAJJLDLBCS for level 1.

After developing remakes of classic 8bit games (Prince of Persia, Lode Runner, Donkey Kong, Moon Patrol) to the Roku platform (streaming box/TV OS) I decided to work the other way around, this time, developing for the Commodore 64 computer a version of one of the most successful games for Roku, the arcade-style space shooter Retaliate. I started studying 6502 assembly to work on my port of Prince of Persia, but at that time, the focus was just to understand pieces of the logic. As I own a Commodore 64 since 2015, I wanted to start a project for it, but always found too complex to start from scratch.

The KaM Remake mod is an attempt to reinvigorate the original “Knights and Merchants: The Shattered Kingdom” strategy game. Our goals are to make it work on today's computers and operating systems, implement a fully featured online multiplayer system, as well as to fix the many bugs in the game engine. To do this we have started from scratch, writing our own code for the game engine but still relying on many original resource files. We assume that you own the original KaM game, (the installer checks for it) otherwise you should buy it – it's available in a number of online gaming stores. The KaM Remake executable is freeware and is built by enthusiasts. Applications used: Delphi 6 - XE2, FastMM4, Lazarus, OpenGL, OpenAL, Overbyte ICS, zLib, PNGImage, MadExcept, libZPlay.
