merecat - Simple HTTP/HTTPS server based on Jef Poskanzer's thttpd

  •        81

Merecat started out as a pun at Mongoose, but is now useful for actual web serving purposes. It is however not a real Meerkat, merely yet another copycat, forked from the great thttpd created by Jef Poskanzer. Merecat is available as free/open source software under the simplified 2-clause BSD license. For more information, see the manual page merecat(8), or the FAQ.

restinio - A header-only C++14 library that gives you an embedded HTTP/Websocket server

  •    C++

RESTinio is a header-only C++14 library that gives you an embedded HTTP/Websocket server. It is based on standalone version of ASIO and targeted primarily for asynchronous processing of HTTP-requests. Since v.0.4.1 Boost::ASIO (1.66 or higher) is also supported (see notes on building with Boost::ASIO). Server runs on the main thread, and respond to all requests with hello-world message. Of course you've got an access to the structure of a given HTTP request, so you can apply a complex logic for handling requests.

nuster - A web caching proxy server based on HAProxy

  •    C

Nuster is a simple yet powerful web caching proxy server based on HAProxy. It is 100% compatible with HAProxy, and takes full advantage of the ACL functionality of HAProxy to provide fine-grained caching policy based on the content of request, response or server status. Nuster is very fast, some test shows nuster is almost three times faster than nginx when both using single core, and nearly two times faster than nginx and three times faster than varnish when using all cores.

thttpd - tiny/turbo/throttling HTTP server

  •    C

thttpd is a simple, small, portable, fast, and secure HTTP server. It also has one extremely useful feature (URL-traffic-based throttling) that no other server currently has. Plus, it supports IPv6 out of the box, no patching required.

turbo - Turbo is a framework built for LuaJIT 2 to simplify the task of building fast and scalable network applications

  •    Lua

Turbo is a framework built for LuaJIT 2 to simplify the task of building fast and scalable network applications. It uses a event-driven, non-blocking, no thread design to deliver excellent performance and minimal footprint to high-load applications while also providing excellent support for embedded uses. The toolkit can be used for HTTP REST API's, traditional dynamic web pages through templating, open connections like WebSockets, or just as high level building blocks for native speed network applications. First and foremost the framework is aimed at the HTTP(S) protocol. This means web developers and HTTP API developers are the first class citizens. But the framework contains generic nuts and bolts such as; a I/O loop, IO Stream classes, customizeable TCP (with SSL) server classes giving it value for everyone doing any kind of high performance network application. It will also speak directly to your exising C libraries, and happily also create native C struct's for the ultimate memory and CPU performance.

pem - Create private keys and certificates with node.js

  •    Javascript

Here are some examples for creating an SSL key/cert on the fly, and running an HTTPS server on port 443. 443 is the standard HTTPS port, but requires root permissions on most systems. To get around this, you could use a higher port number, like 4300, and use https://localhost:4300 to access your server. Please have a look into the API documentation.
