git-secret - :busts_in_silhouette: A bash-tool to store your private data inside a git repository.

  •    Shell

git-secret is a bash tool which stores private data inside a git repo. git-secret encrypts tracked files with public keys for users whom you trust using gpg, allowing permitted users to access encrypted data using their secret keys. With git-secret, changes to access rights are made easy and private-public key issues are handled for you. Passwords do not need to be changed with git-secret when someone's permission is revoked - just remove their key from the keychain using git secret killperson their@email.com, and re-encrypt the files, and they won't be able to decrypt secrets anymore. It also supports apt and yum. You can also use make if you want to. See the installation section for the details.

VFSForGit - Virtual File System for Git: Enable Git at Enterprise Scale

  •    CSharp

VFS stands for Virtual File System. VFS for Git virtualizes the file system beneath your git repo so that git and all tools see what appears to be a normal repo, but VFS for Git only downloads objects as they are needed. VFS for Git also manages the files that git will consider, to ensure that git operations like status, checkout, etc., can be as quick as possible because they will only consider the files that the user has accessed, not all files in the repo. This project was formerly known as GVFS (Git Virtual File System). It is undergoing a rename to VFS for Git. While the rename is in progress, the code, protocol, built executables, and releases may still refer to the old GVFS name. See https://github.com/Microsoft/VFSForGit/projects/4 for the latest status of the rename effort.

Tig - Text-mode interface for git

  •    C

Tig is an ncurses-based text-mode interface for git. It functions mainly as a Git repository browser, but can also assist in staging changes for commit at chunk level and act as a pager for output from various Git commands. Tig allows you to browse changes in a Git repository and can additionally act as a pager for output of various Git commands. When used as a pager, it will display input from stdin and colorize it.

hg-git - mercurial to git bridge, pushed to directly from the hg-git plugin in Hg

  •    Python

This is the Hg-Git plugin for Mercurial, adding the ability to push and pull to/from a Git server repository from Hg. This means you can collaborate on Git based projects from Hg, or use a Git server as a collaboration point for a team with developers using both Git and Hg. The Hg-Git plugin can convert commits/changesets losslessly from one system to another, so you can push via an Hg repository and another Hg client can pull it and their changeset node ids will be identical - Mercurial data does not get lost in translation. It is intended that Hg users may wish to use this to collaborate even if no Git users are involved in the project, and it may even provide some advantages if you're using Bookmarks (see below).

git-town - Generic, high-level Git workflow support!

  •    Gherkin

Git Town makes software development teams who use Git even more productive and happy. It adds Git commands that support GitHub Flow, Git Flow, the Nvie model, GitLab Flow, and other workflows more directly, and it allows you to perform many common Git operations faster and easier. See git-town.com for documentation and this Softpedia article for an independent review.

git-quick-stats - ▁▅▆▃▅ Git quick statistics is a simple and efficient way to access various statistics in git repository

  •    Shell

git quick-stats is a simple and efficient way to access various statistics in git repository. Any git repository contains tons of information about commits, contributors, and files. Extracting this information is not always trivial, mostly because of a gadzillion options to a gadzillion git commands – I don’t think there is a single person alive who knows them all. Probably not even Linus Torvalds himself :).

go-git - A highly extensible Git implementation in pure Go.

  •    Go

go-git is a highly extensible git implementation library written in pure Go. It can be used to manipulate git repositories at low level (plumbing) or high level (porcelain), through an idiomatic Go API. It also supports several type of storage, such as in-memory filesystems, or custom implementations thanks to the Storer interface.

git-it-electron - :computer: :mortar_board: Git-it is a (Mac, Win, Linux) Desktop App for Learning Git and GitHub

  •    HTML

Git-it is a desktop (Mac, Windows and Linux) app that teaches you how to use Git and GitHub on the command line. This application contains challenges for learning Git and GitHub—by using real Git and GitHub, not emulators. You'll be learning the awesome (and not so scary) command line and GitHub which means when you finish all of the challenges you'll have real repositories on your GitHub account and green squares on your contribution chart.

Gitblit - Pure Java Git Solution

  •    Java

Gitblit is an open source, pure Java Git solution for managing, viewing, and serving Git repositories. It can serve repositories over the GIT, HTTP, and SSH transports; it can authenticate against multiple providers; and it allows you to get up-and-running with an attractive, capable Git server in less than 5 minutes. Gitblit can be used as a complete Git stack for cloning, pushing, and repository access control.

git-filter-repo - Quickly rewrite git repository history (filter-branch replacement)

  •    Python

git filter-repo is a versatile tool for rewriting history, which includes capabilities I have not found anywhere else. It roughly falls into the same space of tool as git filter-branch but without the capitulation-inducing poor performance, with far more capabilities, and with a design that scales usability-wise beyond trivial rewriting cases. git filter-repo is now recommended by the git project instead of git filter-branch.

Git-Credential-Manager-for-Windows - Secure Git credential storage for Windows with support for Visual Studio Team Services, GitHub, and Bitbucket multi-factor authentication

  •    CSharp

The Git Credential Manager for Windows (GCM) provides secure Git credential storage for Windows. It's the successor to the Windows Credential Store for Git (git-credential-winstore), which is no longer maintained. Compared to Git's built-in credential storage for Windows (wincred), which provides single-factor authentication support working on any HTTP enabled Git repository, GCM provides multi-factor authentication support for Visual Studio Team Services, Team Foundation Server, GitHub, and Bitbucket. This is a community project so feel free to contribute ideas, submit bugs, fix bugs, or code new features. For detailed information on how the GCM works go to the wiki.

GitUp - The Git interface you've been missing all your life has finally arrived.

  •    Objective-C

Work quickly, safely, and without headaches. The Git interface you've been missing all your life has finally arrived.GitUp is a bet to invent a new Git interaction model that lets engineers of all levels work quickly, safely, and without headaches. It's unlike any other Git client out there from the way it’s built (it interacts directly with the Git database on disk), to the way it works (you manipulate the repository graph instead of manipulating commits).

Gogs - A self-hosted Git service written in Go

  •    Go

Gogs(Go Git Service) is a painless self-hosted Git Service written in Go. It supports Create/manage/delete organization with team management, Create/fork/migrate/mirror/delete/watch/rename/transfer public/private repository, Repository viewer/release/issue tracker, Mail service(register, issue), Administration panel, Activity timeline and lot more.

GVFS - Git Virtual File System, Manages massive Git repositories

  •    CSharp

GVFS stands for Git Virtual File System, It manages massive Git repositories possible. GVFS virtualizes the file system beneath your git repo so that git and all tools see what appears to be a normal repo, but GVFS only downloads objects as they are needed. GVFS also manages git's sparse-checkout to ensure that git operations like status, checkout, etc., can be as quick as possible because they will only consider the files that the user has accessed, not all files in the repo.

git-crypt - Transparent file encryption in git

  •    C++

git-crypt enables transparent encryption and decryption of files in a git repository. Files which you choose to protect are encrypted when committed, and decrypted when checked out. git-crypt lets you freely share a repository containing a mix of public and private content. git-crypt gracefully degrades, so developers without the secret key can still clone and commit to a repository with encrypted files. This lets you store your secret material (such as keys or passwords) in the same repository as your code, without requiring you to lock down your entire repository. git-crypt was written by Andrew Ayer (agwa@andrewayer.name). For more information, see https://www.agwa.name/projects/git-crypt.

nginx-lua-prometheus - Prometheus metric library for Nginx written in Lua

  •    Lua

This is a Lua library that can be used with Nginx to keep track of metrics and expose them on a separate web page to be pulled by Prometheus. You need to install nginx package with lua support (libnginx-mod-http-lua on newer Debian versions, or nginx-extras on older ones). The library file, prometheus.lua, needs to be available in LUA_PATH. If this is the only Lua library you use, you can just point lua_package_path to the directory with this git repo checked out (see example below).
