WinLLDPService - LLDP Service for Windows

  •        307

Small LLDP Windows Service. For *nix operating system(s) use the excellent lldpd. Sends LLDP packets to switch. Switch must have LLDP capability. It doesn't query switches' internal LLDP data. Errors are logged to Windows Event Log.

lldpd - implementation of IEEE 802.1ab (LLDP)

  •    C

LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) is an industry standard protocol designed to supplant proprietary Link-Layer protocols such as Extreme's EDP (Extreme Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol). The goal of LLDP is to provide an inter-vendor compatible mechanism to deliver Link-Layer notifications to adjacent network devices. lldpd implements both reception and sending. It also implements an SNMP subagent for net-snmp to get local and remote LLDP information. The LLDP-MIB is partially implemented but the most useful tables are here. lldpd also partially implements LLDP-MED.

Weave - Simple, Resilient Multi-host Docker Networking

  •    Go

Weave is a simple, portable and reliable way to network and manage containers and microservices. It provides a simple and resilient network for your application that is portable across data centers and public clouds. Weave Net creates a virtual network that connects Docker containers across multiple hosts and enables their automatic discovery.

Mininet - An Instant Virtual Network on your Laptop (or other PC)

  •    Python

Mininet emulates a complete network of hosts, links, and switches on a single machine. It creates a realistic virtual network, running real kernel, switch and application code, on a single machine (VM, cloud or native), in seconds, with a single command.

Netdisco

  •    Perl

Netdisco is an SNMP-based L2/L3 network management tool designed for moderate to large networks. Routers and switches are polled to log IP and MAC addresses and map them to switch ports. Automatic L2 network topology discovery, display, and inventory.

Network Tracking Database

  •    Perl

The Network Tracking Database (NetDB for short) tracks all changes to the MAC address tables on your switches and the ARP tables on your routers over time. It supports extensive switch, VLAN and vendor code reports from a CLI or Web App. NetDB can generate CSV reports, track the usage of static IP addresses, record neighbor discovery data and much more. There is now a VM quot;appliancequot; with easier upgrades available in the Files section. See the website for more details:

Lbry - A fully decentralized network for distributing data

  •    Python

LBRY is a protocol that provides a fully decentralized network for the discovery, distribution, and payment of data. It utilizes the LBRY blockchain as a global namespace and database of digital content. Blockchain entries contain searchable content metadata, identities, and rights and access rules. It also provides a data network consists of peers uploading and downloading data from other peers, possibly in exchange for payments, and a distributed hash table, used by peers to discover other peers.
