The main interface class is named SteamNetworkingSockets, and many files have "steam" in their name. But Steam is not needed. If you don't make games or aren't on Steam, feel free to use this code for whatever purpose you want. The reason for "Steam" in the names is that this provides a subset of the functionality of the API with the same name in the Steamworks SDK. Our main reason for releasing this code is so that developers won't have any hesitation coding to the API in the Steamworks SDK. On Steam, you will link against the Steamworks version, and you can get the additional features there (access to the relay network). And on other platforms, you can use this version, which has the same names for everything, the same semantics, the same behavioural quirks. We want you to take maximum advantage of the features in the Steamworks version, and that won't happen if the Steam code is a weird "wart" that's hidden behind #ifdef STEAM.


smudge - A lightweight library that provides group member discovery, status dissemination, and failure detection using the SWIM epidemic protocol

Smudge is a minimalist Go implementation of the SWIM (Scalable Weakly-consistent Infection-style Membership) protocol for cluster node membership, status dissemination, and failure detection developed at Cornell University by Motivala, et al. It isn't a distributed data store in its own right, but rather a framework intended to facilitate the construction of such systems. Smudge also extends the standard SWIM protocol so that in addition to the standard membership status functionality it also allows the transmission of broadcasts containing a small amount (256 bytes) of arbitrary content to all present healthy members. This maximum is related to the limit imposed on maximum safe UDP packet size by RFC 791 and RFC 2460. We recognize that some systems allow larger packets, however, and although that can risk fragmentation and dropped packets the maximum payload size is configurable.

liblogfaf (faf stands for fire-and-forget) is a dynamic library that is designed to be LD_PRELOAD-ed while starting a process that uses openlog() & syslog() functions to send syslog messages. It overrides logging functions to make log messages sent as UDP datagrams instead of getting written to /dev/log (which can block). This is useful for processes that call syslog() as part of their main execution flow and can therefore be easily broken when /dev/log buffer gets full, for example when the process that is expected to read from it (usually system syslog daemon like rsyslog or syslog-ng) stops doing that.Please note that liblogfaf should not be used in an environment where reliable log message delivery is required.
