Alaveteli - Provide a Freedom of Information request system for your jurisdiction

  •        140

Provide a Freedom of Information request system for your jurisdiction. It’s a simple concept: citizens use Alaveteli to request information, and the replies are recorded for all to see on the website. Historic requests, along with any resulting correspondence, are archived publicly online. This increases the availability of the requested information, and encourages transparency. Therefore, Alaveteli acts both as a useful tool for citizens, and as an advocacy tool for right-to-know campaigners.

gdpr-documents - πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Your Right to be Informed and Erased

  •    Javascript

GDPR is important because it improves the protection of European data subjects' rights and clarifies what companies that process personal data must do to safeguard these rights. After one of the Equifax data breaches & one year after feared GDPR came into force, a team of lawyers decided to explore the state of data protection of European banks & credit scoring entities. At first, we researched available GDPR requests but found next to nothing. The vast majority of information advises companies on how to fend off personal data inquiries. This saddened us, as financial institutions gather massive amounts of detailed information about us. We expected that more people would want to execute their right to know. To shift this imbalance a little, we created our request templates. Currently is available "Data Access" request & Data Erase in 8 European languages.

The TLC has sent us the data in batches as it continues to review trip data Uber and other HFV companies have submitted to it. The TLC's correspondence with FiveThirtyEight is included in the files TLC_letter.pdf, TLC_letter2.pdf and TLC_letter3.pdf. TLC records requests can be made here.

Hackintosh-Installer-University - open source tutorial & information collector for hackintosh installation

  •    Shell

πŸ“’ This is an open source tutorial & information collector for Hackintosh installations that does not charge readers any fee. πŸ“’ We don't want to build a universal installation tutorial and, it's also impossible since every devices are different. We are here because we want to gather information and experiences, we want to build an index for most successful builds in github and make them be discovered more easily. When I was just a newbie, I didn't know how to get start building a hackintosh since I didn't know what's a bootloader and an EFI partition. It took me a really long time to find a helpful build in Github due to the deep location of that repo. So this is the purpose why we created this index.

Performance - Client side performance tool

  •    Javascript

In short about: This is an npm package to display statistics about your web pages, information such as CSS resources count, Google PageSpeed Insights score, information on how to fix performance issues, HTML errors and more in one custom web page. Tech details: This package mainly uses three plugins w3cjs (HTML test errors, warnings etc), Google PageSpeed Insights (a lot information, for example: how to fix main load/performance issues, load times...) and dev-perf (number of 404 errors, number of images without dimensions etc), The information collected is then displayed in an AngularJS based webpage.

And don't forget your express.session() middleware: app.use(express.session({ store: awesomeSessionStore })); For further info about this middleware see the official documentation.

WiFiAuth - Because connecting to WiFis is still an unsolved problem πŸ˜‚

  •    Objective-C

Checking if a WiFi network needs the user to login on some kind of login page is the responsibility of the operating system. However iOS is still having a hard time detecting most WiFis, resulting in apps to not work. Unless you know you have to open Safari and access a non-SSL encrypted website like http://neverssl.com, the user is confused, and doesn't know why your app is "broken". The only app I've ever seen do this right is Facebook Messenger: They show a banner on top of the message list, letting you know the currently connected network needs some kind of user-interaction. Tapping that banner would open up an in-app browser.

RapidFTR - RapidFTR streamlines and speeds up the Family Tracing and Reunification process using small handheld devices to collect information

  •    Ruby

RapidFTR is an Android-based mobile application that lets aid workers collect, sort and share information about children in emergency situations. RapidFTR is specifically designed to streamline and speed up Family Tracing and Reunification efforts both in the immediate aftermath of a crisis and during ongoing recovery efforts. RapidFTR allows for quick input of essential data about a child on a mobile phone, including a photograph, the child's age, family, health status and location information. Data is saved automatically and uploaded to a central database whenever network access becomes available. Registered aid workers will be able to create and modify entries for children in their care as well as search all existing records in order to help distressed parents find information about their missing children. Because RapidFTR is designed specifically to collect and distribute information about children, data security is extremely important.

xss-payload-list - 🎯 Cross Site Scripting ( XSS ) Vulnerability Payload List

  •    HTML

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks are a type of injection, in which malicious scripts are injected into otherwise benign and trusted web sites. XSS attacks occur when an attacker uses a web application to send malicious code, generally in the form of a browser side script, to a different end user. Flaws that allow these attacks to succeed are quite widespread and occur anywhere a web application uses input from a user within the output it generates without validating or encoding it. An attacker can use XSS to send a malicious script to an unsuspecting user. The end user’s browser has no way to know that the script should not be trusted, and will execute the script. Because it thinks the script came from a trusted source, the malicious script can access any cookies, session tokens, or other sensitive information retained by the browser and used with that site. These scripts can even rewrite the content of the HTML page. For more details on the different types of XSS flaws, see: Types of Cross-Site Scripting.

susi_server - Software and Skills for Personal Assistants using SUSI AI / Artificial Intelligence for Chat Bots http://api

  •    Java

Susi AI is an intelligent Open Source personal assistant. It is capable of chat and voice interaction by using APIS to perform actions such as music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, and other real time information. Additional functionalities can be added as console services using external APIs. Susi AI is able to answer questions and depending on the context will ask for additional information in order to perform the desired outcome. The core of the assistant is the Susi AI server that holds the "intelligence" and "personality" of Susi AI. The Android and web applications make use of the APIs to access information from a hosted server. After all server processes are running, Susi AI tries to open a browser page itself. If that does not happen, just open http://localhost:4000; if you made the installation on a headless or remote server, then replace 'localhost' with your server name.

open_source_demos - A collection of demos showcasing automated feature engineering and machine learning in diverse use cases

  •    Jupyter

This repository consists of a series of demos that leverage EvalML, Featuretools, Woodwork, and Compose. The demos rely on a different subset of these libraries and to various levels of complexity. Building an accurate machine learning model requires several important steps. One of the most complex and time consuming is extracting information through features. Finding the right features is a crucial component of both interpreting the dataset as a whole as well as building a model with great predictive power. Another core component of any machine learning process is selecting the right estimator to use for the problem at hand. By combining the best features with the most accurate estimator and its corresponding hyperparameters, we can build a machine learning model that can generalize well to unknown data. Just as the process of feature engineering is made simple by Featuretools, we have made automated machine learning easy to implement using EvalML.
