Resilience4j is a lightweight fault tolerance library inspired by Netflix Hystrix, but designed for Java 8 and functional programming. Lightweight, because the library only uses Vavr (formerly Javaslang), which does not have any other external library dependencies. Netflix Hystrix, in contrast, has a compile dependency to Archaius which has many more external library dependencies such as Guava and Apache Commons Configuration. With Resilience4j you don’t have to go all-in, you can pick what you need. Setup and usage is described in our User Guide.

spring-petclinic-microservices - Distributed version of Spring Petclinic built with Spring Cloud

This microservices branch was initially derived from AngularJS version to demonstrate how to split sample Spring application into microservices. To achieve that goal we used Spring Cloud Netflix technology stack. In order to start entire infrastructure using Docker, you have to build images by executing mvn clean install -PbuildDocker from a project root. Once images are ready, you can start them with a single command docker-compose up. Containers startup order is coordinated with wait-for-it.sh script. After starting services it takes a while for API Gateway to be in sync with service registry, so don't be scared of initial Zuul timeouts. You can track services availability using Eureka dashboard available by default at http://localhost:8761.

PiCluster is a simple way to manage Docker containers on multiple hosts. Docker Swarm not that good and Kubernetes was too difficult to install currently on ARM. PiCluster will only build and run images from Dockerfile's on the host specified in the config file. This software will work on regular x86 hardware also and is not tied to ARM.

After some minutes you could open the "db-overview" dashboard and start looking at metrics. For defining your own dashboards you need to log in as admin (admin/pgwatch2admin). NB! If you don't want to add the "test" database (the pgwatch2 configuration db) for monitoring set the NOTESTDB=1 env parameter when launching the image.
