OnionShare lets you securely and anonymously share files of any size. It works by starting a web server, making it accessible as a Tor Onion Service, and generating an unguessable URL to access and download the files. It does not require setting up a separate server or using a third party file-sharing service. You host the files on your own computer and use a Tor Onion Service to make it temporarily accessible over the internet. Use nmap to scan hidden "onion" services on the Tor network. Minimal image based on alpine, using proxychains to wrap nmap. Tor and dnsmasq are run as daemons via s6, and proxychains wraps nmap to use the Tor SOCKS proxy on port 9050. Tor is also configured via DNSPort to anonymously resolve DNS requests to port 9053. dnsmasq is configured to with this localhost:9053 as an authority DNS server. Proxychains is configured to proxy DNS through the local resolver, so all DNS requests will go through Tor and applications can resolve .onion addresses. When the container boots, it launches Tor and dnsmasq as daemons. The tor_wait script then waits for the Tor SOCKS proxy to be up before executing your command.

coyim - coyim - a safe and secure chat client

CoyIM is a new client for the XMPP protocol. It is built upon https://github.com/agl/xmpp-client and https://github.com/coyim/otr3. It adds a graphical user interface and implies safe and secure options by default. Our ambition is that it should be possible for even the most high-risk people on the planet to safely use CoyIM, without having to make any configuration changes. To do this, CoyIM has OTR enabled and uses Tor by default. Besides that, it will only use the Tor Onion Service for a known server and also uses TLS and TLS certificates to verify the connection - no configuration required. The implementation is written in the Go language, to avoid many common types of vulnerabilities that come from using unsafe languages.

Many instant messengers already use encryption to secure message contents, but they can't hide important metadata such as your IP address and who you are communicating with. To hide all your information, including your metadata, identity, and IP address, Chat.onion uses onion routing (Tor) to send each message over several randomly selected proxy servers. Multiple layers of encryption are used to ensure that each proxy only knows it's immediate successor and predecessor, but not the entire message route.

If you still don’t understand, Shallot probably isn’t for you.) then when you restart your Tor, a hostname file will be created in HiddenServiceDir that contains your shiny new .onion address. It is sometimes claimed that private keys generated by Shallot are less secure than those generated by Tor. This is false. Although Shallot generates a keypair with an unusually large public exponent e, it performs all of the sanity checks specified by PKCS #1 v2.1 (directly in sane_key), and then performs all of the sanity checks that Tor does when it generates an RSA keypair (by calling the OpenSSL function RSA_check_key).

ProxyChains is a UNIX program, that hooks network-related libc functions in dynamically linked programs via a preloaded DLL and redirects the connections through SOCKS4a/5 or HTTP proxies. this means that you can’t currently use tor onion urls for irssi. to solve this issue, an external data store (file, pipe, …​) has to manage the dns <→ ip mapping. of course there has to be proper locking. shm_open, mkstemp, are possible candidates for a file based approach, the other option is to spawn some kind of server process that manages the map lookups. since connect() etc are hooked, this must not be a TCP server.

PORTAL is a project that aims to keep people out of jail. It is a dedicated hardware device (a router) which forces all internet traffic to be sent over the Tor network. This significantly increases the odds of using Tor effectively, and reduces the potential to make fatal mistakes. There are two ways to construct a PORTAL: using a chipped router (recommended), or using "the /overlay trick". Using a modified router (with sufficient onboard flash) provides the most flexibility for internet connectivity (either WiFi or 3G) as well as ensuring that the Tor process has sufficient RAM to run. A chipped router provides the best overall experience. The /overlay trick enables a stock router to union mount a microSD card for additional storage space. This allows for multiple microSD cards to provide different configurations (also possible with a chipped router), but has the downside of requiring a 3G modem with onboard microSD slot.
