dg - [LLVM Static Slicer] Dependence graph for programs

  •        26

Dg is a library which implements dependence graphs for programs. It contains a set of generic templates that can be specialized to user's needs. Dg can be used for different analyses, optimizations or program slicing (we currently use it for the last one in our tool called Symbiotic: https://github.com/staticafi/symbiotic). As a part of dg, you can find pointer analyses, reaching definitions analysis and a static slicer for LLVM. Whole project is under developement and lacks documentation for now, so in the case of need, contact us by an e-mail (below).

mcsema - Framework for lifting x86, amd64, and aarch64 program binaries to LLVM bitcode

  •    C++

McSema is an executable lifter. It translates ("lifts") executable binaries from native machine code to LLVM bitcode. LLVM bitcode is an intermediate representation form of a program that was originally created for the retargetable LLVM compiler, but which is also very useful for performing program analysis methods that would not be possible to perform on an executable binary directly. McSema enables analysts to find and retroactively harden binary programs against security bugs, independently validate vendor source code, and generate application tests with high code coverage. McSema isn’t just for static analysis. The lifted LLVM bitcode can also be fuzzed with libFuzzer, an LLVM-based instrumented fuzzer that would otherwise require the target source code. The lifted bitcode can even be compiled back into a runnable program! This is a procedure known as static binary rewriting, binary translation, or binary recompilation.

PhpDependencyAnalysis - Static code analysis to find violations in a dependency graph

  •    PHP

PhpDependencyAnalysis is an extendable static code analysis for object-oriented PHP-Projects to generate dependency graphs from abstract datatypes (Classes, Interfaces and Traits) based on namespaces. Dependencies can be aggregated to build graphs for several levels, like Package-Level or Layer-Level. Each dependency can be verified to a defined architecture. Read the Introduction-Chapter for further informations.

polytracker - An LLVM-based instrumentation tool for universal taint tracking, dataflow analysis, and tracing

  •    C

PolyTracker is a tool originally created for the Automated Lexical Annotation and Navigation of Parsers, a backronym devised solely for the purpose of referring to it as The ALAN Parsers Project. However, it has evolved into a general purpose tool for efficiently performing data-flow and control-flow analysis of programs. PolyTracker is an LLVM pass that instruments programs to track which bytes of an input file are operated on by which functions. It outputs a database containing the data-flow information, as well as a runtime trace. PolyTracker also provides a Python library for interacting with and analyzing its output, as well as an interactive Python REPL. PolyTracker can be used in conjunction with PolyFile to automatically determine the semantic purpose of the functions in a parser. It also has an experimental feature capable of generating a context free grammar representing the language accepted by a parser.

prealloc - prealloc is a Go static analysis tool to find slice declarations that could potentially be preallocated

  •    Go

prealloc is a Go static analysis tool to find slice declarations that could potentially be preallocated. Similar to other Go static analysis tools (such as golint, go vet), prealloc can be invoked with one or more filenames, directories, or packages named by its import path. Prealloc also supports the ... wildcard.

decomp - Components of a decompilation pipeline.

  •    Go

The aim of this project is to implement a decompilation pipeline composed of independent components interacting through well-defined interfaces, as further described in the design documents of the project. From a high-level perspective, the components of the decompilation pipeline are conceptually grouped into three modules. Firstly, the front-end translates a source language (e.g. x86 assembly) into LLVM IR; a platform-independent low-level intermediate representation. Secondly, the middle-end structures the LLVM IR by identifying high-level control flow primitives (e.g. pre-test loops, 2-way conditionals). Lastly, the back-end translates the structured LLVM IR into a high-level target programming language (e.g. Go).

panda - Platform for Architecture-Neutral Dynamic Analysis

  •    C

PANDA is an open-source Platform for Architecture-Neutral Dynamic Analysis. It is built upon the QEMU whole system emulator, and so analyses have access to all code executing in the guest and all data. PANDA adds the ability to record and replay executions, enabling iterative, deep, whole system analyses. Further, the replay log files are compact and shareable, allowing for repeatable experiments. A nine billion instruction boot of FreeBSD, e.g., is represented by only a few hundred MB. PANDA leverages QEMU's support of thirteen different CPU architectures to make analyses of those diverse instruction sets possible within the LLVM IR. In this way, PANDA can have a single dynamic taint analysis, for example, that precisely supports many CPUs. PANDA analyses are written in a simple plugin architecture which includes a mechanism to share functionality between plugins, increasing analysis code re-use and simplifying complex analysis development. It is currently being developed in collaboration with MIT Lincoln Laboratory, NYU, and Northeastern University.

bap - Binary Analysis Platform

  •    OCaml

The Carnegie Mellon University Binary Analysis Platform (CMU BAP) is a reverse engineering and program analysis platform that works with binary code and doesn't require the source code. BAP supports multiple architectures: ARM, x86, x86-64, PowerPC, and MIPS. BAP disassembles and lifts binary code into the RISC-like BAP Instruction Language (BIL). Program analysis is performed using the BIL representation and is architecture independent in a sense that it will work equally well for all supported architectures. The platform comes with a set of tools, libraries, and plugins. The documentation and tutorial are also available. The main purpose of BAP is to provide a toolkit for implementing automated program analysis. BAP is written in OCaml and it is the preferred language to write analysis, we have bindings to C, Python and Rust. The Primus Framework also provide a Lisp-like DSL for writing program analysis tools. BAP is developed in CMU, Cylab and is sponsored by various grants from the United States Department of Defense, Siemens AG, and the Korea government, see sponsors for more information.

phan - Phan is a static analyzer for PHP

  •    PHP

Phan is a static analyzer for PHP that prefers to minimize false-positives. Phan attempts to prove incorrectness rather than correctness. Phan looks for common issues and will verify type compatibility on various operations when type information is available or can be deduced. Phan has a good (but not comprehensive) understanding of flow control and does not attempt to track values.

It enables users to run analytics on entire data sets instead of samples.

gokart - A static analysis tool for securing Go code

  •    Go

GoKart is a static analysis tool for Go that finds vulnerabilities using the SSA (single static assignment) form of Go source code. It is capable of tracing the source of variables and function arguments to determine whether input sources are safe, which reduces the number of false positives compared to other Go security scanners. For instance, a SQL query that is concatenated with a variable might traditionally be flagged as SQL injection; however, GoKart can figure out if the variable is actually a constant or constant equivalent, in which case there is no vulnerability. Static analysis is a powerful technique for finding vulnerabilities in source code. However, the approach has suffered from being noisy - that is, many static analysis tools find quite a few "vulnerabilities" that are not actually real. This has led to developer friction as users get tired of the tools "crying wolf" one time too many.

phpinspectionsea - A Static Code Analyzer for PHP (a PhpStorm/Idea Plugin)

  •    Java

This project is an OSS Static Code Analysis tool for PhpStorm (2016.2+) and Idea Ultimate.
