node-promise - Promise utilities for Node

  •    Javascript

MIT License. The node-promise project provides a complete promise implementation. Promises provide a clean separation of concerns between asynchronous behavior and the interface so asynchronous functions can be called without callbacks, and callback interaction can be done on the generic promise interface. The node-promise package provides just a promise implementation, however, https://github.com/kriszyp/promised-io is recommended for more complete promise-based IO functionality. The promised-io includes the promise implementation from node-promise, as well as wrappers around Node's filesystem and other system I/O APIs for consistent promise-based interaction.

promise-polyfill - Lightweight ES6 Promise polyfill for the browser and node. A+ Compliant

  •    Javascript

Lightweight ES6 Promise polyfill for the browser and node. Adheres closely to the spec. It is a perfect polyfill IE, Firefox or any other browser that does not support native promises. For API information about Promises, please check out this article HTML5Rocks article.

node-fibers - Fiber/coroutine support for v8 and node.

  •    C++

Fibers, sometimes called coroutines, are a powerful tool which expose an API to jump between multiple call stacks from within a single thread. This can be useful to make code written for a synchronous library play nicely in an asynchronous environment. Note: node-fibers uses node-gyp for building. To manually invoke the build process, you can use node-gyp rebuild. This will put the compiled extension in build/Release/fibers.node. However, when you do require('fibers'), it will expect the module to be in, for example, bin/linux-x64-v8-3.11/fibers.node. You can manually put the module here every time you build, or you can use the included build script. Either npm install or node build -f will do this for you. If you are going to be hacking on node-fibers, it may be worthwhile to first do node-gyp configure and then for subsequent rebuilds you can just do node-gyp build which will be faster than a full npm install or node-gyp rebuild.

stream-handbook - how to write node programs with streams

  •    Javascript

Now you will have a stream-handbook command that will open this readme file in your $PAGER. Otherwise, you may continue reading this document as you are presently doing.Streams come to us from the earliest days of unix and have proven themselves over the decades as a dependable way to compose large systems out of small components that do one thing well. In unix, streams are implemented by the shell with | pipes. In node, the built-in stream module is used by the core libraries and can also be used by user-space modules. Similar to unix, the node stream module's primary composition operator is called .pipe() and you get a backpressure mechanism for free to throttle writes for slow consumers.

Stream-Framework - Stream Framework is a Python library, which allows you to build news feed, activity streams and notification systems using Cassandra and/or Redis

  •    Python

Stream Framework is a python library which allows you to build activity streams & newsfeeds using Cassandra and/or Redis. If you're not using python have a look at Stream, which supports Node, Ruby, PHP, Python, Go, Scala, Java and REST. Stream Framework's authors also offer a web service for building scalable newsfeeds & activity streams at Stream. It allows you to create your feeds by talking to a beautiful and easy to use REST API. There are clients available for Node, Ruby, PHP, Python, Go, Scala and Java. The Get Started page explains the API & concept in a few clicks. It's a lot easier to use, free up to 3 million feed updates and saves you the hassle of maintaining Cassandra, Redis, Faye, RabbitMQ and Celery workers.

  •    Javascript

Node Geocoder, node geocoding library, supports google maps, mapquest, open street map, tom tom, promise

node-portfinder - A simple tool to find an open port or domain socket on the current machine

  •    Javascript

If portfinder.getPortPromise() is called on a Node version without Promise (<4), it will throw an Error unless Bluebird or any Promise pollyfill is used.By default portfinder will start searching from 8000. To change this simply set portfinder.basePort.

httpinvoke - A no-dependencies HTTP client library for browsers and Node

  •    Javascript

A no-dependencies HTTP client library for browsers and Node.js with a promise-based or Node.js-style callback-based API to progress events, text and binary file upload and download, partial response body, request and response headers, status code. Any one, two or three arguments can be skipped, except the url.

torrent-stream - The low level streaming torrent engine that peerflix uses

  •    Javascript

torrent-stream is a node module that allows you to access files inside a torrent as node streams.Per default no files are downloaded unless you create a stream to them. If you want to fetch a file without creating a stream you should use the file.select and file.deselect methods.

knex - A SQL query builder that is flexible, portable, and fun to use!

  •    Javascript

Knex.js is a "batteries included" SQL query builder for Postgres, MSSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite3, and Oracle designed to be flexible, portable, and fun to use. It features both traditional node style callbacks as well as a promise interface for cleaner async flow control, a stream interface, full featured query and schema builders, transaction support (with savepoints), connection pooling and standardized responses between different query clients and dialects.

xml-stream - XML stream parser based on Expat. Made for Node.

  •    Javascript

XmlStream is a Node.js XML stream parser and editor, based on node-expat (libexpat SAX-like parser binding). When working with large XML files, it is probably a bad idea to use an XML to JavaScript object converter, or simply buffer the whole document in memory. Then again, a typical SAX parser might be too low-level for some tasks (and often a real pain).

stream-adventure - go on an educational stream adventure!

  •    Javascript

First install node version 0.10 or later. Once you've installed node, you will have an npm command.

  •    Javascript

Turn a regular node function into one which returns a thunk, useful for generator-based flow control such as co.

node-fetch - A light-weight module that brings window.fetch to Node.js

  •    Javascript

Instead of implementing XMLHttpRequest in Node.js to run browser-specific Fetch polyfill, why not go from native http to fetch API directly? Hence node-fetch, minimal code for a window.fetch compatible API on Node.js runtime.See Matt Andrews' isomorphic-fetch or Leonardo Quixada's cross-fetch for isomorphic usage (exports node-fetch for server-side, whatwg-fetch for client-side).

phridge - A bridge between node and PhantomJS

  •    Javascript

A bridge between node and PhantomJS. Working with PhantomJS in node is a bit cumbersome since you need to spawn a new PhantomJS process for every single task. However, spawning a new process is quite expensive and thus can slow down your application significantly.

node-mongoskin - The wrapper for node-mongodb-native.

  •    Javascript

For detail API reference see node mongodb API. Mongoskin is just change the API call chain. We make some common use functions in promise mode, we call it SkinClass of a normal Class. And the API is almost same with official API.

node-promise-mysql

  •    Javascript

Promise-mysql is a wrapper for mysqljs/mysql that wraps function calls with Bluebird promises. Usually this would be done with Bluebird's .promisifyAll() method, but mysqljs/mysql's footprint is different to that of what Bluebird expects. At the minute only the standard connection (using .createConnection()) and the pool (using .createPool()) is supported. createPoolCluster is not implemented yet.
