oppressor - streaming http compression response negotiator

  •    Javascript

Return a duplex stream that will be compressed with gzip, deflate, or no compression depending on the accept-encoding headers sent.oppressor will emulate calls to http.ServerResponse methods like writeHead() so that modules like filed that expect to be piped directly to the response object will work.

Zopfli - Compression library from Google

  •    C++

Zopfli Compression Algorithm is a compression library programmed in C to perform very good, but slow, deflate or zlib compression. The basic function to compress data is ZopfliCompress in zopfli.h. Use the ZopfliOptions object to set parameters that affect the speed and compression. Use the ZopfliInitOptions function to place the default values in the ZopfliOptions first.

LZF Compressor- High-performance, streaming/chunking Java LZF codec, compatible with standard C LZF package

  •    Java

LZF-compress is a Java library for encoding and decoding data in LZF format, written by Tatu Saloranta. LZF alfgorithm itself is optimized for speed, with somewhat more modest compression. Compared to the standard Deflate (algorithm gzip uses) LZF can be 5-6 times as fast to compress, and twice as fast to decompress. Compression rate is lower since no Huffman-encoding is used after lempel-ziv substring elimintation.

compression - Node.js compression middleware

  •    Javascript

Node.js compression middleware. Returns the compression middleware using the given options. The middleware will attempt to compress response bodies for all request that traverse through the middleware, based on the given options.

lzfse - LZFSE compression library and command line tool

  •    C

This is a reference C implementation of the LZFSE compressor introduced in the Compression library with OS X 10.11 and iOS 9. LZFSE is a Lempel-Ziv style data compression algorithm using Finite State Entropy coding. It targets similar compression rates at higher compression and decompression speed compared to deflate using zlib.

miniz - miniz: Single C source file zlib-replacement library, originally from code

  •    C

Miniz is a lossless, high performance data compression library in a single source file that implements the zlib (RFC 1950) and Deflate (RFC 1951) compressed data format specification standards. It supports the most commonly used functions exported by the zlib library, but is a completely independent implementation so zlib's licensing requirements do not apply. Miniz also contains simple to use functions for writing .PNG format image files and reading/writing/appending .ZIP format archives. Miniz's compression speed has been tuned to be comparable to zlib's, and it also has a specialized real-time compressor function designed to compare well against fastlz/minilzo. Please use the files from the releases page in your projects. Do not use the git checkout directly! The different source and header files are amalgamated into one miniz.c/miniz.h pair in a build step ( Include miniz.c and miniz.h in your project to use Miniz.

SharpZipLib - Compression Library in CSharp

  •    CSharp

#ziplib (SharpZipLib, formerly NZipLib) is a Zip, GZip, Tar and BZip2 library written entirely in C# for the .NET platform. It is implemented as an assembly (installable in the GAC), and thus can easily be incorporated into other projects (in any .NET language).

zlib-ng - zlib replacement with optimizations for "next generation" systems.

  •    C

The motivation for this fork was due to seeing several 3rd party contributions containing new optimizations not getting implemented into the official zlib repository. Mark Adler has been maintaining zlib for a very long time, and he has done a great job and hopefully he will continue for a long time yet. The idea of zlib-ng is not to replace zlib, but to co-exist as a drop-in replacement with a lower threshold for code change.

pigz - A parallel implementation of gzip for modern multi-processor, multi-core machines

  •    C

pigz, which stands for parallel implementation of gzip, it compresses using threads to make use of multiple processors and cores. The input is broken up in to 128 KB chunks with each compressed in parallel. The individual check value for each chunk is also calculated in parallel. The compressed data is written in order to the output, and a combined check value is calculated from the individual check values.

JZlib - Zlib in Java

JZlib is a re-implementation of zlib in pure Java. JZlib can inflate data, which is deflated by zlib and JZlib can generate deflated data, which is acceptable and is inflated by zlib. JZlib supports all compression level and all flushing mode in zlib.

heroku-deflater - Enable gzip compression on heroku, but don't compress images.

  •    Ruby

A simple rack middleware that enables compressing of your assets and application responses on Heroku, while not wasting CPU cycles on pointlessly compressing images and other binary responses. Before serving a file from disk to a gzip-enabled client, it will look for a precompressed file in the same location that ends in ".gz". The purpose is to avoid compressing the same file each time it is requested.

JSONH - Homogeneous Collection Compressor

  •    Javascript

It is demonstrated that overall performances of JSONH are up to 3 times faster in compression and 2 times in parsing thanks to smaller and simplified nature of the collection/string. It is also demonstrated that resulting bandwidth size will be incrementally smaller than equivalent JSON operation reaching, in certain cases, down to 30% of original size and without gzip/deflate compression in place.

PeaZip - Cross-platform file and archive manager

  •    Pascal

PeaZip is a free file archiver utility and rar extractor for Windows and Linux, work with 150+ archive types and variants (7z, ace, arc, bz2, cab, gz, iso, paq, pea, rar, tar, wim, zip, zipx...), handle spanned archives and support multiple archive encryption standards. The project aims to provide a cross-platform, portable, GUI frontend for multiple Open Source technologies (7-Zip, FreeArc, PAQ, PEA, UPX) focused on file and archive management, and security

pgzip - Go parallel gzip (de)compression

  •    Go

Go parallel gzip compression/decompression. This is a fully gzip compatible drop in replacement for "compress/gzip". This will split compression into blocks that are compressed in parallel. This can be useful for compressing big amounts of data. The output is a standard gzip file.

warp - A super-easy, composable, web server framework for warp speeds

  •    Rust

A super-easy, composable, web server framework for warp speeds. The fundamental building block of warp is the Filter: they can be combined and composed to express rich requirements on requests. It has support for Multipart form data, Websockets, Gzip, Deflate, and Brotli compression, Access logging, Static Files and Directories and lot more.

7-Zip-zstd - 7-Zip with support for Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, Lizard, LZ4, LZ5 and Zstandard

  •    C

Zstandard v1.3.7 is a real-time compression algorithm, providing high compression ratios. It offers a very wide range of compression / speed trade-off, while being backed by a very fast decoder. Brotli v.1.0.7 is a generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm that compresses data using a combination of a modern variant of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling, with a compression ratio comparable to the best currently available general-purpose compression methods. It is similar in speed with deflate but offers more dense compression.
