This is a companion specification to the core xAPI Specification that addresses the structure and supporting services for xAPI Profiles. A profile is the human and/or machine-readable documentation of application-specific concepts, statement patterns, extensions, and statement templates used when implementing xAPI in a particular context. In a nutshell, a profile documents the vocabulary concepts, extensions, statement templates, and patterns that are required for xAPI to be implemented consistently for a specific use case. A profile empowers designers and developers to establish a controlled, domain-specific vocabulary and determine what data should be captured/stored and reported on. In other words, a profile really is the blueprint for a successful, semantically interoperable xAPI implementation.

Xapi is the main component produced by the Linux Foundation's Xapi Project. The build install instructions are currently being written. The Xapi Project contains a large list of dependencies and sub-projects, which are actually quite difficult to build independently. To build xen-api from source, we recommend using opam with the xs-opam remote (detailed explanation in readme).

JSON-LD is intended to be a simple publishing method for expressing not only Linked Data in JSON, but for adding semantics to existing JSON.



The current version of the specification is 1.0.3. The next version of the specification has not been planned.

Data models provided by Schema.org are popular and have proved efficient. They cover a broad spectrum of topics including creative work, e-commerce, event, medicine, social networking, people, postal address, organization, place or review. Schema.org has its roots in a ton of preexisting well designed vocabularies and is successfully used by more and more websites and applications.

JsonPath expressions always refer to a JSON structure in the same way as XPath expression are used in combination with an XML document.
