awesome-software-quality - List of free software testing and verification resources

  •

This page collects resources for anyone considering the use of software testing and formal methods. There are many axes along which one can organize such a list, such as the level of expertise of the intended audience (from experts to the public at large) or disciplinary orientation (computer science, mathematics, mathematical logic, etc.). Here I have chosen to classify the material by type of subject matter.

lean - Lean Theorem Prover

  •    C++

Stable and nightly binary releases of Lean are available on the homepage. For building Lean from source, see the build instructions.

FStar - Verification system for effectful programs

  •    OCaml

The F* tutorial provides a first taste of verified programming in F*, explaining things by example. The F* wiki contains additional, usually more in-depth, technical documentation on F*.

trumail - :email: :white_check_mark: A Fast and Free Email Verification API written in Go

  •    Go

Trumail is a free and open source email validation/verification system. It is available in three forms, the Golang client library verifier for use in your own Go projects, a public API endpoint (more info: https://trumail.io), and a public Docker image on DockerHub (see: https://hub.docker.com/r/sdwolfe32/trumail/). NOTE: While we do offer a managed, enterprise level service to paying customers, it is highly recommended that you host the service yourself either using a Docker image or by forking and serving this project on your own instance. Please keep in mind, self-hosting Trumail requires bidirectional communication on port 25 which most residential ISPs restrict - AWS and Digitalocean both permit this sort of communication.

mockk - mocking library for Kotlin

  •    Kotlin

We are actively looking for contributors and co-authors. There are two ambitious goals, that look unachievable at first sight, but in my opinion is essential to win Kotlin competition and require just hard and inventive work. They are - support for Kotlin/JS and Kotlin/Native platforms. If you think you can accept one of this two challenges and join us please contact me. All you need to get started is just to add a dependency to MockK library.

SmsVerifyCatcher - Android library for phone number verification feature in your app

  •    Java

A library for implementing interception of SMS with a verification code using a few lines of code. Need iOS and Android apps, MVP development or prototyping? Contact us via info@stfalcon.com. We develop software since 2009, and we're known experts in this field. Check out our portfolio and see more libraries from stfalcon-studio.

Cosette - Cosette is an automated SQL solver powered by Coq/Lean and Rosette.

  •    Lean

Cosette is a language, and an automated solver for reasoning SQL equivalences.

pact_broker - Enables your consumer driven contracts workflow

  •    Ruby

The Pact Broker is an application for sharing for consumer driven contracts and verification results. It is optimised for use with "pacts" (contracts created by the Pact framework), but can be used for any type of contract that can be serialized to JSON. Contract testing is an alternative approach to traditional integration testing that gives you tests that are quicker to execute, and that are more maintainable at scale. One down side of the approach is that the important information that would be available all in one place at the end of an integration test suite execution (that is, the version numbers of all the applications that were tested together, and whether the tests passed or failed) is now spread out across many different builds. The Pact Broker is a tool that brings all this information back together again, and allows you to deploy with safety.

VCC

  •

VCC is a mechanical verifier for concurrent C programs. VCC takes a C program, annotated with function specifications, data invariants, loop invariants, and ghost code, and tries to prove these annotations correct.

Spec#

  •

Spec# ("speck-sharp") is an object-oriented .NET programming language with design-by-contract features for method pre- and postconditions and object invariants and also a non-null type system.

Microsoft Research Boogie

  •

Boogie is a program verification system that produces verification conditions for programs written in an intermediate language (also named Boogie). The intermediate language is easy to target from source languages such as Spec#, C#, or even C.

tlaplus - TLC is an explicit state model checker for specifications written in TLA+

  •    Java

Please read our contribution guide before you start working on your contribution. We also have a feature wishlist.

vunit - VUnit is a unit testing framework for VHDL/SystemVerilog

  •    VHDL

VUnit is an open source unit testing framework for VHDL/SystemVerilog released under the terms of Mozilla Public License, v. 2.0. It features the functionality needed to realize continuous and automated testing of your HDL code. VUnit doesn't replace but rather complements traditional testing methodologies by supporting a "test early and often" approach through automation. Contributing in the form of code, feedback, ideas or bug reports are welcome. Read our contribution guide to get started.

certigrad - Bug-free machine learning on stochastic computation graphs

  •    Lean

Specifically, Certigrad is a system for optimizing over stochastic computation graphs, that we debugged systematically in the Lean Theorem Prover, and ultimately proved correct in terms of the underlying mathematics. Stochastic computation graphs extend the computation graphs that underlie systems like TensorFlow and Theano by allowing nodes to represent random variables and by defining the loss function to be the expected value of the sum of the leaf nodes over all the random choices in the graph. Certigrad allows users to construct arbitrary stochastic computation graphs out of the primitives that we provide. The main purpose of the system is to take a program describing a stochastic computation graph and to run a randomized algorithm (stochastic backpropagation) that, in expectation, samples the gradients of the loss function with respect to the parameters.

verifier - Package verifier provides simple defensive programing primitives.

  •    Go

Package verifier provides simple defensive programing primitives. Some software has higher than usual requirements for availability, safety or security. Often in such projects people practice pragmatic paranoia with specific set of rules. For example: each public function on any level of your application should check all arguments passed to it. Obviously checking for nil pointers, but also states and conditions, that it will rely on.

TTGPuzzleVerify - By completing image puzzle game, TTGPuzzleVerify is a more user-friendly verification tool on iOS, which is highly customizable and easy to use

  •    Objective-C

By completing image puzzle game, TTGPuzzleVerify is a more user-friendly verification tool on iOS, which is highly customizable and easy to use. It supports square, circle, classic or custom puzzle shape. User can complete the verification by sliding horizontally, vertically or directly dragging the puzzle block. To run the example project, clone the repo, and run pod install from the Example directory first.

node-facenet - Solve face verification, recognition and clustering problems: A TensorFlow backed FaceNet implementation for Node

  •    TypeScript

A TensorFlow backed FaceNet implementation for Node.js, which can solve face verification, recognition and clustering problems. FaceNet is a deep convolutional network designed by Google, trained to solve face verification, recognition and clustering problem with efficiently at scale.
