  •    Shell

This project contains a set of shell scripts for installing and configuring a fresh Ubuntu operating system. It is assumed that the base Ubuntu install is a server install and not a client install. fix-spotify-icon - :musical_note: Shell script to fix the Spotify icon in Ubuntu.

  •    Shell

Shell script to fix the Spotify icon in Ubuntu. Spotify uses a green icon in the system tray, which is not in accordance with the standard system tray icons in Ubuntu. You could replace the icon manually, but you would have to repeat it every time Spotify is updated, since the icon is overwritten in the process. This shell script minimizes the pain with a simple one-line command that replaces the Spotify system tray icon with a more fitting one.

ipv6-dhclient-script - IPv6 w/ dhclient configuration script (Debian/RedHat-based distros)

  •    Shell

Simple IPv6 configuration script for Debian (Ubuntu...) and RedHat (CentOS, Fedora...) based distros, mainly for Online.net servers but valid for any network that provides IPv6 access through prefix delegation i.e. the static address is configured by the client and an identifier (DUID) is sent to the DHCP server in order to get functional routes. Dedicated servers provided by Online.net won't come with IPv6 enabled by default so this makes things a bit easier specially when owning multiple servers and IPv6 needs to be enabled by hand in each one.

hack-captive-portals - Hack any Captive portal using MAC-spoofing technique

  •    Shell

This script is using MAC-spoofing technique. This method is the only one which is present in all wireless and some wired Captive portals by design. Once a host is authorized by the Captive portal, its MAC and IP address are allowed unrestricted access. All we need to do is sniff traffic on the network, find a host that is authorized, and spoof its IP and MAC address. Spoofing a MAC is dependent on your network card and driver but most modern network devices today support it. The downside of course is that you have to observe someone already authenticated, but in places such as a crowded airport lobby this may be less difficult than it seems. You need sipcalc and nmap for this script. Then download .sh script and run it.

ARM-RStudio - Compile RStudio for ARM Ubuntu 14.04 on Samsung Chromebook

  •    Shell

git clone the repo or download the zip file containing ARM-RStudio and extract its contents. Launch a terminal from inside this folder and run sudo ./ARM-RStudio.sh. You may need to change the permissions to allow the script to execute, in which case enter sudo chmod a+x ARM-RStudio.sh before launching the script. There are none. The downside of running ARM hardware is less support for software packages and trouble porting some software to the architecture. Through a long process of trial and error, this script was hacked together to get RStudio to build using mostly the Ubuntu repos and a few independent downloads. The script will install RStudio v1.1.423 but may become broken with newer release of the software.
