This explorer syncronizes the entire blockchain into a mongodb database. This takes a LOT of time. I'd highly recommend you run a local instance of steemd and modify the docker-compose.yml to point to it. It's going to be a lot faster of a sync than trying to read the entire blockchain from a public node. docker-compose up should be all you need to get the development application running.
Vessel is a lite wallet for the Steem blockchain that you can run on your desktop computer without needing to run the blockchain itself. This is experimental and messy software at the moment, please use with caution.
Robust steem blockchain client library that runs in both node.js and the browser. note As of version 0.7.0 WebSocket support has been removed. The only transport provided now is HTTP(2). For most users the only change required is to swap wss:// to https:// in the address. If you run your own full node make sure to set the proper CORS headers if you plan to access it from a browser.
If your local db server does not support SSL, change the ssl option to false in db/config/config.json. A Dockerfile is supplied. You will need to configure the app with environment variables. See the file .env.example for a full list of what you will need.
