CatchUp - An app for catching up on things.

  •    Kotlin

An app for catching up on things. There's a lot of services I like reading up on throughout the day. Most of these services have dedicated apps for consuming them, but often times I just want to skim the front page and only deep dive occasionally. Enter CatchUp: a high level presentation of the "front page" of several services in short form, and intelligent deeplinking into dedicated apps if you want to go further.

programming-language-subreddits-and-their-choice-of-words - How do the different communities talk?

  •    Python

While reading about various programming languages, I developed a hunch about how often different languages are mentioned by other communities and about the average conversational tones used by relative members. To examine if it was just selective perception on my site, an unconscious confirmation of stereotypes, or a valid observation I collected and analysed some data, i.e. all comments (about 300k) written to submissions (about 40k) in respective programming language subreddits from 2013-08 to 2014-07 using PRAW and SQLite.

libreddit - Private front-end for Reddit written in Rust

  •    Rust

10 second pitch: Libreddit is a portmanteau of "libre" (meaning freedom) and "Reddit". It is a private front-end like Invidious but for Reddit. Browse the coldest takes of r/unpopularopinion without being tracked. A checkmark in the "Cloudflare" category here refers to the use of the reverse proxy, Cloudflare. The checkmark will not be listed for a site which uses Cloudflare DNS but rather the proxying service which grants Cloudflare the ability to monitor traffic to the website.

Lemmy - Building a federated alternative to reddit in Rust

  •    Rust

Lemmy is a link aggregator / reddit clone for the fediverse. Lemmy is similar to sites like Reddit, Lobste.rs, Raddle, or Hacker News: you subscribe to forums you're interested in, post links and discussions, then vote, and comment on them. Behind the scenes, it is very different; anyone can easily run a server, and all these servers are federated (think email), and connected to the same universe, called the Fediverse.

SubredditSimulator - An automated subreddit with posts created using markov chains

  •    Python

This is the code behind /r/SubredditSimulator, an automated subreddit populated by bots making submissions and comments, primarily using markov chains based on the actual posts in other subreddits. This project is deliberately somewhat difficult to get running (requiring reading of the code and undocumented, manual configuration of some things). Markov chain bots can be hilarious, but they also have the potential to be annoying to real users if released "into the wild", so it is not my intention to make it extremely simple for anyone to start running similar bots.

flask_reddit is an extendable + minimalist Reddit clone. This was built so beginners who want a standard CRUD + reddit-like application can quickly get to work.

Shreddit - Remove your comment history on Reddit as deleting an account does not do so.

  •    Python

Shreddit is a Python command line program which will take a user's post history on the website Reddit, and will systematically go through the user's history deleting one post/submission at a time until only those whitelisted remain. It allows you to maintain your normal reddit account while having your history scrubbed after a certain amount of time. When it became known that post edits were not saved but post deletions were saved, code was added to edit your post prior to deletion. In fact you can actually turn off deletion all together and just have lorem ipsum (or a message about Shreddit) but this will increase how long it takes the script to run as it will be going over all of your messages every run.
