PostgreSQL - Powerful, Open Source Object-Relational Database System

  •    C

PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source object-relational database system. It has more than 15 years of active development and a proven architecture that has earned it a strong reputation for reliability, data integrity, and correctness. It is fully ACID compliant, has full support for foreign keys, joins, views, triggers, and stored procedures (in multiple languages). It has native programming interfaces for most of the programming language.

CUBRID - RDBMS Optimized for Web

  •    C++

CUBRID is a relational database management system highly optimized for Web Applications, especially when complex web services process large amount of data and generate huge concurrent requests. CUBRID is being developed in C/C++. Includes HA, online incremental backup, Replication, Load balancing, Sharding, Caching and other features. It supports JDBC, PHP, ODBC/.NET, Ruby & Python APIs.

massive-js - A data mapper for Node.js and PostgreSQL.

  •    Javascript

Massive.js is a data mapper for Node.js that goes all in on PostgreSQL and fully embraces the power and flexibility of the SQL language and relational metaphors. Providing minimal abstractions for the interfaces and tools you already use, its goal is to do just enough to make working with your data as easy and intuitive as possible, then get out of your way. Massive is not an object-relational mapper (ORM)! It doesn't use models, it doesn't track state, and it doesn't limit you to a single entity-based metaphor for accessing and persisting data. Massive connects to your database and introspects its schemas to build an API for the data model you already have: your tables, views, functions, and easily-modified SQL scripts.

YapDatabase - YapDatabase is an extensible database for iOS & Mac.

  •    Objective-C

Concurrency. You can read from the database while another thread is simultaneously making modifications to the database. So you never have to worry about blocking the main thread, and you can easily write to the database on a background thread. And, of course, you can read from the database on multiple threads simultaneously. Built-In Caching. A configurable object cache is built-in. Of course sqlite has caching too. But it's caching raw serialized bytes, and we're dealing with objects. So having a built-in cache means you can skip the deserialization process, and get your objects much faster.

Leveldb - A fast and lightweight key/value database library by Google.

  •    C++

LevelDB is a fast key-value storage library written at Google that provides an ordered mapping from string keys to string values. Keys and values are arbitrary byte arrays. It supports basic operations like Put(key,value), Get(key), Delete(key). Only a single process (possibly multi-threaded) can access a particular database at a time.

RocksDB - A persistent key-value store for fast storage environments

  •    C++

RocksDB is an embeddable persistent key-value store for fast storage. RocksDB builds on LevelDB to be scalable to run on servers with many CPU cores, to efficiently use fast storage, to support IO-bound, in-memory and write-once workloads, and to be flexible to allow for innovation. It is especially suited for storing data on flash drives. It has multi-threaded compactions, making it specially suitable for storing multiple terabytes of data in a single database.

HyperSQL - Java Database

  •    Java

HyperSQL supports the widest range of SQL Standard features seen in any open source database engine. It offers a small, fast database engine which offers in-memory and disk-based tables and supports embedded and server modes. It is a relational database engine written in Java, with a JDBC driver, conforming to ANSI SQL:2008. It alsi supports transaction isolation, multiversion concurrency and ACID, Java stored procedures, Scalability and lot more.

go-sqlmock - Sql mock driver for golang to test database interactions

  •    Go

sqlmock is a mock library implementing sql/driver. Which has one and only purpose - to simulate any sql driver behavior in tests, without needing a real database connection. It helps to maintain correct TDD workflow.NOTE: in v1.2.0 sqlmock.Rows has changed to struct from interface, if you were using any type references to that interface, you will need to switch it to a pointer struct type. Also, sqlmock.Rows were used to implement driver.Rows interface, which was not required or useful for mocking and was removed. Hope it will not cause issues.

UnQLite - Transactional Embedded NoSQL Database Engine

  •    C

UnQLite is a in-process software library which implements a self-contained, serverless, zero-configuration, transactional NoSQL database engine. UnQLite is a document store database similar to MongoDB, Redis, CouchDB etc. as well a standard Key/Value store similar to BerkeleyDB, LevelDB, etc.

Pincaster - NoSQL Database with a HTTP/JSON interface

  •    C

Pincaster is an in-memory, persistent data store for geographic data and key/dictionary pairs, with replication and a HTTP/JSON interface.

Basex - Processing and Visualizing XML with a native XML Database

  •    Java

BaseX is a light-weight, high-performance and scalable XML Database engine and XPath/XQuery 3.0 Processor, which includes full support for the W3C Update and Full Text extensions. An interactive and user-friendly GUI frontend gives you great insight into your XML documents. It is a High-performance database storage with text, attribute, full-text and path indexes.

Beringei - High performance, in-memory storage engine for time series data.

  •    C++

In the fall of 2015, we published the paper “Gorilla: A Fast, Scalable, In-Memory Time Series Database” at VLDB 2015. Beringei is the open source representation of the ideas presented in this paper. Beringei is a high performance time series storage engine. Time series are commonly used as a representation of statistics, gauges, and counters for monitoring performance and health of a system.
