d3d8to9 - A D3D8 pseudo-driver which converts API calls and bytecode shaders to equivalent D3D9 ones

  •    C++

d3d8to9 is a pseudo-driver module that intends to improve compatibility and stability in games using Direct3D 8 for rendering by converting all API calls and lowlevel shaders to equivalent Direct3D 9 ones. By that it also opens those games to the new possibilities from proven tools and wrappers written for Direct3D 9. You'll need Visual Studio 2013 or higher to open the project file. It is recommended to install the old standalone DirectX end-user runtime, which is required for the D3DX libraries used for disassembling and assembling the shaders.

d3d9-to-11 - Direct3D 9 to Direct3D 11 converter

  •    Rust

This project is an attempt to convert Direct3D 9 programs to Direct3D 11. It reimplements the d3d9.dll, which contains the core D3D9 interfaces. Most D3D9 games are CPU limited on modern PCs, since GPU power increased exponentially while CPUs fell behind. Furthermore, most (old) games lack multithreading support, draining the CPU resource even more.
