The site is built and served through the Federalist platform. 18f.gsa.gov extends the U.S. Web Design System and 18F Brand guidelines to create a style that is professional, unique, and informative. The style guide, located at 18f.gsa.gov/styleguide/ documents the patterns and components used to create this theme.

Requires node >= 8.9.2 (I recommend using nvm, for which nvm use (or nvm install) will read .nvmrc and use the version of node specified there. Note that gulp and jspm are only installed globally for local dev, whereas the CI-deployment uses npm run so the binaries in node_modules/.bin/ are in the path. You could technically use npm run ci-gulp-build if you don't want to install gulp globally.

louis - A distressingly simple static site generator written in Node.js.

Louis generates static blogs from the command line and automatically uploads them to S3. It's dead simple to use and requires very little set up. It uses MultiMarkdown for inputting blog posts and pages, and comes with a ready-made theme (but you can also roll your own with Mustache).
