coyim - coyim - a safe and secure chat client

  •    Go

CoyIM is a new client for the XMPP protocol. It is built upon https://github.com/agl/xmpp-client and https://github.com/coyim/otr3. It adds a graphical user interface and implies safe and secure options by default. Our ambition is that it should be possible for even the most high-risk people on the planet to safely use CoyIM, without having to make any configuration changes. To do this, CoyIM has OTR enabled and uses Tor by default. Besides that, it will only use the Tor Onion Service for a known server and also uses TLS and TLS certificates to verify the connection - no configuration required. The implementation is written in the Go language, to avoid many common types of vulnerabilities that come from using unsafe languages.

ZeroLink - The Bitcoin Fungibility Framework

  •

Special thanks for Adam Gibson and Chris Belcher from JoinMarket, Ethan Heilman from TumbleBit, Dan Gershony from Breeze Wallet and Kristov Atlas from Open Bitcoin Privacy Project for tolerating my constant bugging and bothering to acquire their invaluable reviews, suggestions and feedbacks. While fungibility is an essential property of good money, Bitcoin has its limitations in this area. Numerous fungibility improvements have been proposed; however none of them have addressed the privacy issues in full. ZeroLink is first to offer protections against all the different ways a user's privacy can be breached. The scope of ZeroLink is not limited to a single transaction, it extends to transaction chains and it addresses various network layer deanonymizations, however its scope is limited to Bitcoin's first layer. Even if an off-chain anonymity solution gets widely adopted, ultimately the entrance and exit transactions will always be settled on-chain. Therefore there will always be need for on-chain privacy.

icebreaker - Web app that allows students to ask real-time, anonymous questions during class

  •    Go

Ice Breaker is a web application designed to allow students to ask real-time, anonymous questions during class. Once started, it allows the creation of rooms, each with its own set of keys: a private instructor key, and a public student key. Each key exposes a different view of the room; students see only a form that allows them to submit questions (optionally including a name), whereas instructors see a stream of incoming questions from students. The envisioned use of this application is that one of the instructors (most likely a TA) monitors the instructor view during class, and asks any incoming questions by proxy. The hope is that this will lower the barrier for shyer students to ask questions during class.
