gjk.c - Gilbert-Johnson-Keerthi (GJK) collision detection algorithm in 200 lines of clean plain C

  •    C

This is a rough but fast implementation of GJK collision detection algorithm in plain C. Just one C file, less then 200 lines, no dependencies. It is in 2D for now, full 3D version is upcoming... This 2D-version uses Minkowski sums and builds a triangle-simplex in Minkowski space to tell if two arbitrary convex polygons are colliding. 3D-version will be roughly the same, but will build a tetrahedron-simplex inside a 3-dimensional Minkowski space. It currently only tells if there is a collision or not. C-code for distance and contact points coming soon.Fuck licenses and copyright. I made it for learning purposes, this is public knowledge and it's absolutely free for any usage.

Sophus - C++ implementation of Lie Groups using Eigen.

  •    C++

This is a c++ implementation of Lie groups commonly used for 2d and 3d geometric problems (i.e. for Computer Vision or Robotics applications). Among others, this package includes the special orthogonal groups SO(2) and SO(3) to present rotations in 2d and 3d as well as the special Euclidean group SE(2) and SE(3) to represent rigid body transformations (i.e. rotations and translations) in 2d and 3d. Sophus compiles with clang and gcc on Linux and OS X as well as msvc on Windows. The specific compiler and operating system versions which are supported are the ones which are used in the Continuous Integration (CI): See TravisCI and AppVeyor for details.

lopq - Training of Locally Optimized Product Quantization (LOPQ) models for approximate nearest neighbor search of high dimensional data in Python and Spark

  •    Python

This is Python training and testing code for Locally Optimized Product Quantization (LOPQ) models, as well as Spark scripts to scale training to hundreds of millions of vectors. The resulting model can be used in Python with code provided here or deployed via a Protobuf format to, e.g., search backends for high performance approximate nearest neighbor search.Locally Optimized Product Quantization (LOPQ) [1] is a hierarchical quantization algorithm that produces codes of configurable length for data points. These codes are efficient representations of the original vector and can be used in a variety of ways depending on the application, including as hashes that preserve locality, as a compressed vector from which an approximate vector in the data space can be reconstructed, and as a representation from which to compute an approximation of the Euclidean distance between points.

chromatic-sketch - Sketch plugin for creating good-looking and perceptually uniform gradients and color scales

  •    Javascript

I came across this blog post recently. It opened my eyes to the Lab color space, and how you can use it to create perceptually uniform gradients and color scales with SASS. Chroma.js is the underlying library powering it. Check it out if you want a deeper understanding of the Lab color space and why it's good for creating color scales. Basically, it's a color space that, unlike RGB, was built to mirror the visual response of the human eye. That makes it very well suited for interpolating colors. This command will take the gradient of the selected shape and add new color stops to create a more aesthetically pleasing one.

CesiumJS is a JavaScript library for creating 3D globes and 2D maps in a web browser without a plugin. It uses WebGL for hardware-accelerated graphics, and is cross-platform, cross-browser, and tuned for dynamic-data visualization.

LibreOffice - The Document foundation

  •    C

LibreOffice is the free power-packed Open Source personal productivity suite for Windows, Macintosh and Linux. LibreOffice is the perfect choice for home users, businesses, government and other organizations. jQuery-Store-Locator-Plugin - A store locator plugin using Google Maps API version 3

  •    Javascript

This jQuery plugin takes advantage of Google Maps API version 3 to create an easy to implement store locator. No back-end programming is required, you just need to feed it KML, XML, or JSON data with all the location information. How you create the data file is up to you. I originally created this for a company that didn’t have many locations, so I just used a static XML file. You will need to geocode your locations beforehand or use a geocoding API service if you want to try to do it on the fly. The reason for this is that all free geocoding APIs have strict limits that would easily be exceeded. In the end, you're much better off storing the coordinates versus having to look them up for each location on each request. A note on the distance calculation: this plugin currently uses a distance function that I found on the blog of Chris Pietschmann. Google Maps API version 3 does include a distance calculation service (Google Distance Matrix API) but I decided not to use it because of the current request limits, which seem somewhat low. For v2 I also tried experimenting with the Directions API to request distances but also found the limits to be too restrictive. So, the distance calculation is “as the crow flies” instead of a road distance calculation. However, if you use the inline directions option that does provide the distance that's returned via the directions request.

textdistance - Compute distance between sequences

  •    Python

TextDistance -- python library for comparing distance between two or more sequences by many algorithms. Work in progress. Now all algorithms compare two strings as array of bits.

calcflow - A virtual reality tool for mathematical modeling!

  •    Common

Today, the most common tool for complex maths visualization in the classroom is the TI-84+. Scientists, researchers, and other professionals who implement calculus in their work may rely on more complex toolkits like MATLAB. Though these tools offer broader functionality, they are similarly if not more unintuitive than their handheld counterparts. Visualization plays a crucial role in understanding, mastering, and improving upon mathematical concepts, but today's standard interfaces frustrate and alienate many individuals, creating an excessively high barrier of entry to higher level math studies. Calcflow shatters this interfacial bottleneck by enabling users to interact directly with complex equations in physical space. Users can manipulate inputs and parameters and observe changes to 3D visualizations in realtime.

bucklespring - Nostalgia bucklespring keyboard sound

  •    C

This project emulates the sound of my old faithful IBM Model-M space saver bucklespring keyboard while typing on my notebook, mainly for the purpose of annoying the hell out of my coworkers. Bucklespring runs as a background process and plays back the sound of each key pressed and released on your keyboard, just as if you were using an IBM Model-M. The sound of each key has carefully been sampled, and is played back while simulating the proper distance and direction for a realistic 3D sound palette of pure nostalgic bliss.

DominantColor - Finding dominant colors of an image using k-means clustering

  •    Swift

Finding the dominant colors of an image using the CIE LAB color space and the k-means clustering algorithm. The RGB color space does not take human perception into account, so the CIELAB color space is used instead, which is designed to approximate human vision [1].

OpenJsCad - 3D solid CAD using only Javascript

  •

Enthusiastic about OpenSCAD but somewhat frustrated by the limitations of its language, here is an alternative using Javascript. It's free, completely open source, still seriously under construction, based on Evan Wallace's CSG.js library and can be used from within a WebGL supporting browser. Currently Chrome and Firefox work well. The benefits over openSCAD are mainly in the language itself: you can use dynamic arrays for example, and solids can be stored in variables. It has built in support for 2D and 3D math, and handy features such as Connectors and Properties which make it possible to create more complex models.
