PHP-Websockets - A Websockets server written in PHP.

  •    PHP

This project provides the functionality of an RFC-6455 (or Version 13) WebSockets server. It can be used as a stand-alone server, or as the back-end of a normal HTTP server that is WebSockets aware. In order to use PHP WebSockets, you must have the ability to arbitrarilly execute scripts, which almost always means having shell access to your server, at a minimum. It is strongly encouraged that you have the ability to configure your machine's HTTP server. It is strongly discouraged to allow arbitrary execution of scripts from a web interface, as this is a major security hole.

zerogw - A fast HTTP/WebSocket to zeromq gateway (UNMAINTAINED, take a look at swindon web server instead)

  •    C

Zerogw is a http to zeromq gateway. Which means it listens HTTP, parses request and sends it using zeromq socket (ZMQ_REQ). Then waits for the reply and responds with data received from zeromq socket. Starting with v0.3 zerogw also supports WebSockets. Websockets are implemented by forwarding incoming messages using ZMQ_PUB socket, and listening commands from ZMQ_SUB socket. Each WebSocket client can be subscribed to unlimited number of topics. Each zeromq message it either control message (e.g. subscription) or message to a specified topic which will be efficiently sent to every WebSocket subscribed to that particular topic.

tcp-over-websockets - Tunnel TCP through WebSockets.

  •    Javascript

Tunnel TCP through WebSockets. Access anything you want, even from a crappy WiFi which only allows HTTPS. Note: chisel is probably the same thing but better. @mdslab/wstun is similar.

Atmosphere - Realtime Client Server Framework for the JVM

  •    Java

The Atmosphere Framework contains client and server side components for building Asynchronous Web Applications. It transparently supports WebSockets, Server Sent Events (SSE), Long-Polling, HTTP Streaming (Forever frame) and JSONP. Its mission is to make real time apps possible in every browser, library and mobile device, blurring the differences between the different transport mechanisms.

Kong - The Microservice API Gateway

  •    Lua

Kong is a cloud-native, fast, scalable, and distributed Microservice Abstraction Layer (also known as an API Gateway, API Middleware or in some cases Service Mesh). Backed by the battle-tested NGINX with a focus on high performance, Kong was made available as an open-source platform in 2015. Under active development, Kong is used in production at thousands of organizations from startups, Global 5000 and Government organizations.

wipes - Pipe text to a WebSocket server

  •    Javascript

wipes is a simple Go program that reads from STDIN and demuxes lines to open WebSockets. For convenience, it also serves files over HTTP (defaulting to the local directory) such that you can talk to the WS server easily. Will start an HTTP server on 8080 and serve files from the current directory. It will also make available the output of tail -f /var/log/messages available via WebSockets at ws://localhost:8080/_ws.

embedio - A tiny, cross-platform, module based web server for .NET

  •    CSharp

A tiny, cross-platform, module based, MIT-licensed web server for .NET Framework and .NET Core.EmbedIO before version 1.4.0 uses Newtonsoft JSON and an internal logger subsystem based on ILog interface.

thor - The WebSocket god of thunder

  •    Javascript

Thor is WebSocket benchmarking/load generator. There are a lot of benchmarking tools for HTTP servers. You've got ab, siege, wrk and more. But all these tools only work with plain ol HTTP and have no support for WebSockets - even if they did they wouldn't be suitable, as they would be testing short running HTTP requests instead of long running HTTP requests with a lot of messaging traffic. Thor fixes all of this. Thor requires Node.js to be installed on your system. If you don't have Node.js installed you can download it from http://nodejs.org or build it from the github source repository: http://github.com/joyent/node.

restinio - A header-only C++14 library that gives you an embedded HTTP/Websocket server

  •    C++

RESTinio is a header-only C++14 library that gives you an embedded HTTP/Websocket server. It is based on standalone version of ASIO and targeted primarily for asynchronous processing of HTTP-requests. Since v.0.4.1 Boost::ASIO (1.66 or higher) is also supported (see notes on building with Boost::ASIO). Server runs on the main thread, and respond to all requests with hello-world message. Of course you've got an access to the structure of a given HTTP request, so you can apply a complex logic for handling requests.

primus - :zap: Primus, the creator god of the transformers & an abstraction layer for real-time to prevent module lock-in

  •    Javascript

Primus, the creator god of transformers but now also known as universal wrapper for real-time frameworks. There are a lot of real-time frameworks available for Node.js and they all have different opinions on how real-time should be done. Primus provides a common low level interface to communicate in real-time using various real-time frameworks. If you deploy your application behind a reverse proxy (Nginx, HAProxy, etc.) you might need to add WebSocket specific settings to its configuration files. If you intend to use WebSockets, please ensure that these settings have been added. There are some example configuration files available in the observing/balancerbattle repository.

MongooseIM - Efficient XMPP server

  •    Erlang

MongooseIM is aimed at large, complex enterprise level projects where real-time communication is critical for business success. It provides high availability, ease of deployment, development and reliability in production. MongooseIM can accept client sessions over vanilla XMPP, Websockets, and HTTP long-polling (a.k.a. BOSH).

shadowsocks-dotcloud - a port of shadowsocks via websockets protocol, able to tunnel through HTTP proxy

  •    CoffeeScript

shadowsocks-dotcloud is a lightweight tunnel proxy which can help you get through firewalls. It is a port of shadowsocks, but through a different protocol. shadowsocks-dotcloud uses WebSockets instead of raw sockets, so it can be deployed on dotcloud.

wssh - SSH to WebSockets Bridge

  •    Javascript

wssh is a SSH to WebSockets Bridge that lets you invoke a remote shell using nothing but HTTP. The client connecting to wssh doesn't need to speak the SSH protocol - rather, the SSH connection is terminated at the bridge level and the pty is wrapper through a thin layer of JSON and sent back to the client.

aerys - A non-blocking HTTP application, WebSocket and file server.

  •    PHP

Aerys is a non-blocking HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 application, WebSocket and static file server written in PHP based on the amp concurrency framework.Simply execute the aerys binary (with PHP 7) to start a server listening on http://localhost/ using the default configuration file (packaged with the repository).

cowboy - Small, fast, modern HTTP server for Erlang/OTP.

  •    Erlang

Cowboy is a small, fast and modern HTTP server for Erlang/OTP. Cowboy aims to provide a complete HTTP stack in a small code base. It is optimized for low latency and low memory usage, in part because it uses binary strings.

beast - HTTP and WebSocket built on Boost.Asio in C++11

  •    C++

Beast is a C++ header-only library serving as a foundation for writing interoperable networking libraries by providing low-level HTTP/1, WebSocket, and networking protocol vocabulary types and algorithms using the consistent asynchronous model of Boost.Asio. Symmetry: Algorithms are role-agnostic; build clients, servers, or both.

ember-websockets - EmberJS WebSockets and Socket.IO addon

  •    Javascript

The send method takes 2 arguments. A message which is passed into the native websockets send method and an optional stringify boolean. This boolean, if set to true, will do a JSON.stringify to the message before passing it to the websocket send method. If you are sending strings it is recommended to pass true. socketFor takes two arguments: a url, a protocol array (optional), and returns a socket instance from its cache or a new websocket connection if one was not found.
