ui-scroll - Unlimited bidirectional scrolling over a limited element buffer

  •    Javascript

The common way to present to the user a list of data elements of undefined length is to start with a small portion at the top of the list - just enough to fill the space on the page. Additional rows are appended to the bottom of the list as the user scrolls down the list. The problem with this approach is that even though rows at the top of the list become invisible as they scroll out of the view, they are still a part of the page and still consume resources. As the user scrolls down the list grows and the web app slows down.

virtual-scroller

  •

This repository hosts explorations for a new web platform feature, a virtual scroller control. The idea of a virtual scroller is to provide a scrolling "viewport" onto some content, allow extremely large numbers of elements to exist, but maintain high performance by only paying the cost for those that are currently visible. Traditionally, we say that the non-visible content is virtualized. Virtualized content is a popular and important pattern on the web. Most content uses it in some form: the https://m.twitter.com and https://facebook.com feeds; Google Photos and YouTube comments; and many news sites which have an automatic "scroll to next article" feature. Most popular frameworks have at least one high-usage virtualization component, e.g. React Virtualized with ~290K weekly downloads. See the infinite list study group for more research on existing virtualization solutions, both on the web and in other platforms like iOS.

iron-list - Element for a virtual, "infinite" list

  •    Javascript

iron-list displays a virtual, 'infinite' list. The template inside the iron-list element represents the DOM to create for each list item. The items property specifies an array of list item data. For performance reasons, not every item in the list is rendered at once; instead a small subset of actual template elements (enough to fill the viewport) are rendered and reused as the user scrolls. As such, it is important that all state of the list template be bound to the model driving it, since the view may be reused with a new model at any time. Particularly, any state that may change as the result of a user interaction with the list item must be bound to the model to avoid view state inconsistency.

LoopBar - Tap Bar with infinite scrolling

  •    Java

At Cleveroad we’ve recently come to realize that navigation through categories in an app using nothing but a navigation panel is pretty boring and trivial. That’s why, armed with our designer’s creativity, we introduce you our new component for Android-based applications -- LoopBar. The idea was to make the navigation menu right at fingerprints, in a tab bar. What's more the view has a few specific features that make it stand out from the crowd of similar ones. So, try out the LoopBar library in your app and you’ll see the difference. View can work in three scroll modes: infinite, finite and auto mode. Names of first two speak for itself. In auto mode the list of groups will be infinite if all adapter items didn't fit on screen in other case it will be a static list. Selected view by request could overlay layout on screen on which it placed. Widget has horizontal and vertical layouts and also start or end gravity of selected view.

big-list-of-naughty-strings - The Big List of Naughty Strings is a list of strings which have a high probability of causing issues when used as user-input data

  •    Python

The Big List of Naughty Strings is an evolving list of strings which have a high probability of causing issues when used as user-input data. This is intended for use in helping both automated and manual QA testing; useful for whenever your QA engineer walks into a bar. Although this is not a malicious error, and typical users aren't Tweeting weird unicode, an "internal server error" for unexpected input is never a positive experience for the user, and may in fact be a symptom of deeper string-validation issues. The Big List of Naughty Strings is intended to help reveal such issues.
