SystemRescueCd - Linux System Rescue Disk

  •        760

SystemRescueCd is a Linux system rescue disk available as a bootable CD-ROM or USB stick for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. It comes with a lot of linux software such as system tools (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic tools (editors, midnight commander, network tools).

It can be used for both Linux and windows computers, and on desktops as well as servers. This rescue system requires no installation as it can be booted from a CD/DVD drive or USB stick, but it can be installed on the hard disk if you wish. The kernel supports all important file systems (ext2/ext3/ext4, reiserfs, btrfs, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs), as well as network filesystems (samba and nfs).

Disk - Delightful framework for iOS to easily persist structs, images, and data

  •    Swift

Disk is a powerful and simple file management library built with Apple's iOS Data Storage Guidelines in mind. Disk uses the new Codable protocol introduced in Swift 4 to its utmost advantage and gives you the power to persist structs without ever having to worry about encoding/decoding. Disk also helps you save images and other data types to disk with as little as one line of code. Disk requires iOS 9+ and is compatible with projects using Swift 4.0 and above. Therefore you must use at least Xcode 9 when working with Disk.

Disk-Arbitrator - A Mac OS X forensic utility which manages file system mounting in support of forensic procedures

  •    Objective-C

Disk Arbitrator is a Mac OS X forensic utility designed to help the user ensure correct forensic procedures are followed during imaging of a disk device. Disk Arbitrator is essentially a user interface to the Disk Arbitration framework, which enables a program to participate in the management of block storage devices, including the automatic mounting of file systems. When enabled, Disk Arbitrator will block the mounting of file systems to avoid mounting as read-write and violating the integrity of the evidence. You can find links to compiled executables on the releases page.

SDURLCache - URLCache subclass with on-disk cache support on iPhone/iPad

  •    Objective-C

On iPhone OS, Apple did remove on-disk cache support for unknown reason. Some will say it's to save flash-drive life, others will arg it's to save disk capacity. As it is explained in the NSURLCacheStoragePolicy, the NSURLCacheStorageAllowed constant is always treated as NSURLCacheStorageAllowedInMemoryOnly and there is no way to force it back, the code is certainly gone on this platform. For whatever reason Apple removed this feature, you may be interested by having on-disk HTTP request caching in your application. SDURLCache gives back this feature to this iPhone OS for you.To use it, you just have create an instance, replace the default shared NSURLCache with it and that's it, you instantly give on-disk HTTP request caching capability to your application.

durable-queue - a disk-backed queue for clojure

  •    Clojure

This library implements a disk-backed task queue, allowing for queues that can survive processes dying, and whose size is bounded by available disk rather than memory. It is a small, purely-Clojure implementation focused entirely on the in-process use case, meaning that it is both simpler and more easily embedded than network-aware queue implementations such as Kafka and ActiveMQ. Notice that the task has a value describing its progress, and a value describing the task itself. We can get the task descriptor by dereferencing the returned task. Note that since the task is persisted to disk and anything on disk may be corrupted, this involves a checksum which may fail and throw an IOException. Any software which wants to be robust to all failure modes should always dereference within a try/catch clause.

stenographer - Stenographer is a packet capture solution which aims to quickly spool all packets to disk, then provide simple, fast access to subsets of those packets

  •    Go

Stenographer is a full-packet-capture utility for buffering packets to disk for intrusion detection and incident response purposes. It provides a high-performance implementation of NIC-to-disk packet writing, handles deleting those files as disk fills up, and provides methods for reading back specific sets of packets quickly and easily. It’s fast because it doesn’t do this.  Even with the very minimal, single-pass processing of packets we do, processing ~1Gbps for indexing alone can take >75% of a single core.

skipper - Streaming multi-uploads for Sails/Express - supports disk, S3, gridfs, and custom file adapters

  •    Javascript

Skipper makes it easy to implement streaming file uploads to disk, S3, or any supported file upload adapters. The following example assumes skipper is already installed as the body parser in your Express or Sails app. It receives one or more files from a file parameter named avatar using the default, built-in file adapter (skipper-disk). This streams the file(s) to the default upload directory .tmp/uploads/ on the server's local disk.
