A light version of Stellarium running in the browser. It is mostly Graphical User Interface for Stellarium Web Engine, a light C sky display engine, compiled into Web Assembly. This is a Vuejs project, which can generate a fully static webpage with webpack.

The underlying numeric routines are coded in C and are the same ones that drive the popular XEphem astronomy application, whose author, Elwood Charles Downey, generously gave permission for their use in PyEphem. The name ephem is short for the word ephemeris, which is the traditional term for a table giving the position of a planet, asteroid, or comet for a series of dates. SunCalc is a tiny BSD-licensed JavaScript library for calculating sun position, sunlight phases (times for sunrise, sunset, dusk, etc.), moon position and lunar phase for the given location and time, created by Vladimir Agafonkin (@mourner) as a part of the project. Most calculations are based on the formulas given in the excellent Astronomy Answers articles about position of the sun and the planets.
