benchm-ml - A minimal benchmark for scalability, speed and accuracy of commonly used open source implementations (R packages, Python scikit-learn, H2O, xgboost, Spark MLlib etc

  •    R

This project aims at a minimal benchmark for scalability, speed and accuracy of commonly used implementations of a few machine learning algorithms. The target of this study is binary classification with numeric and categorical inputs (of limited cardinality i.e. not very sparse) and no missing data, perhaps the most common problem in business applications (e.g. credit scoring, fraud detection or churn prediction). If the input matrix is of n x p, n is varied as 10K, 100K, 1M, 10M, while p is ~1K (after expanding the categoricals into dummy variables/one-hot encoding). This particular type of data structure/size (the largest) stems from this author's interest in some particular business applications. Note: While a large part of this benchmark was done in Spring 2015 reflecting the state of ML implementations at that time, this repo is being updated if I see significant changes in implementations or new implementations have become widely available (e.g. lightgbm). Also, please find a summary of the progress and learnings from this benchmark at the end of this repo.

gdpr-documents - 🇪🇺 Your Right to be Informed and Erased

  •    Javascript

GDPR is important because it improves the protection of European data subjects' rights and clarifies what companies that process personal data must do to safeguard these rights. After one of the Equifax data breaches & one year after feared GDPR came into force, a team of lawyers decided to explore the state of data protection of European banks & credit scoring entities. At first, we researched available GDPR requests but found next to nothing. The vast majority of information advises companies on how to fend off personal data inquiries. This saddened us, as financial institutions gather massive amounts of detailed information about us. We expected that more people would want to execute their right to know. To shift this imbalance a little, we created our request templates. Currently is available "Data Access" request & Data Erase in 8 European languages.

scorecard - Security Scorecards - Security health metrics for Open Source

  •    Go

We created Scorecards to give consumers of open-source projects an easy way to judge whether their dependencies are safe. Scorecards is an automated tool that assesses a number of important heuristics ("checks") associated with software security and assigns each check a score of 0-10. You can use these scores to understand specific areas to improve in order to strengthen the security posture of your project. You can also assess the risks that dependencies introduce, and make informed decisions about accepting these risks, evaluating alternative solutions, or working with the maintainers to make improvements.

Version 4.x is dead. Loss of original signing certificate made it impossible to release anything compatible with v4.0.1 release. To give original developers a credit only about 60 issues were found during two years in production. To move on and enable further development version v5 has been created.Version 5.x is created as replacement for v4.0.1. Assemblies and namespaces are renamed and refactored but otherwise it is compatible with the original. v5.0.0 release fixes most of the issues found in v4.0.1 and implements several optimizations but the accent was on compatibility and if optimization would break API it was ommited. Once stabilized, this version will enter LTS status and will be patched and fixed for the next few years. There will be no significant development in this line.

SpamTestBuddy - Spam Scoring Tool

  •    C

SpamTestBuddy is a simple, light-weight, multiple-input spam scoring tool. It is standalone and can be used with simple procmail rules without root access or daemons. It has built-in support for simple DNS checks including DNSBL (DNS-based blocklist) queries, and can scan headers from filters such as SpamProbe, QSF, DSPAM that you already use. It reduces both false positives and false negatives with the benefit of extra spam tests.

RootTheBox - A Game of Hackers (CTF Scoreboard & Game Manager)

  •    HTML

Root the Box is a real-time scoring engine for computer wargames where hackers can practice and learn. The application can be easily configured and modified for any CTF game. Root the Box attempts to engage novice and experienced players alike by combining a fun game-like environment, with realistic challenges that convey knowledge applicable to the real-world, such as penetration testing, incident response, digital forensics and threat hunting. Just as in traditional CTF games, each team or player targets challenges of varying difficulty and sophistication, attempting to collect flags. Root the Box brings additional options to the game. It can be configured to allow the creation of "Botnets" by uploading a small bot program to target machines, which grant periodic rewards with (in-game) money for each bot in the botnet; the larger the botnet the larger the reward. Money can be used to unlock new levels, buy hints to flags, download a target's source code, or even "SWAT" other players by bribing the (in-game) police. Player's "bank account passwords" can also be publically displayed by the scoring engine, allowing players to crack each other's passwords and steal each other's money.

card-validator - Validate credit cards as users type.

  •    Javascript

Credit Card Validator provides validation utilities for credit card data inputs. It is designed as a CommonJS module for use in Node.js, io.js, or the browser. It includes first class support for 'potential' validity so you can use it to present appropriate UI to your user as they type. A typical use case in a credit card form is to notify the user if the data they are entering is invalid. In a credit card field, entering “411” is not necessarily valid for submission, but it is still potentially valid. Conversely, if a user enters “41x” that value can no longer pass strict validation and you can provide a response immediately.

magspoof - A portable device that can spoof/emulate any magnetic stripe, credit card or hotel card "wirelessly", even on standard magstripe (non-NFC/RFID) readers

  •    Eagle

MagSpoof is a device that can spoof/emulate any magnetic stripe or credit card. It can work "wirelessly", even on standard magstripe/credit card readers, by generating a strong electromagnetic field that emulates a traditional magnetic stripe card. Note: MagSpoof does not enable you to use credit cards that you are not legally authorized to use. The Chip-and-PIN and Amex information is not implemented and using MagSpoof requires you to have/own the magstripes that you wish to emulate. Simply having a credit card number and expiration is not enough to perform transactions. MagSpoof does allow you to perform research in other areas of magstripes, microcontrollers, and electromagnetism, as well as learn about and create your own devices similar to other existing, commercial technologies such as Samsung MST and Coin.

credit-card-type - A library for determining credit card type

  •    Javascript

Credit Card Type provides a useful utility method for determining a credit card type from both fully qualified and partial numbers. This is not a validation library but rather a smaller component to help you build your own validation or UI library. This library is designed for type-as-you-go detection (supports partial numbers) and is written in CommonJS so you can use it in Node, io.js, and the browser.
