north - Design and development standards to align and guide your project.

  •    CSS

North is a set of standards and best practices for developing modern web based properties. Included are standards and best practices for all aspects of a project, from kick off through development. North encourages an agile, content-first, approach to product development and a mobile-first, in-browser, system based approach to design and development. North is meant to be a living document. Standards and best practices change, and as they do and have been vetted, North will grow and change with them. North is versioned using SEMVER in order to provide a way to specify what version of North is being followed for any given project. The easiest way to ensure these standards are tracked as part of your project is to pull in North as a Bower dependency.

awesome-scalability - Scalable, Available, Stable, Performant, and Intelligent System Design Patterns

An updated and curated list of readings to illustrate best practices and patterns in building scalable, available, stable, performant, and intelligent large-scale systems. Concepts are explained in the articles of prominent engineers and credible references. Case studies are taken from battle-tested systems that serve millions to billions of users. Understand your problems: scalability problem (fast for a single user but slow under heavy load) or performance problem (slow for a single user) by reviewing some design principles and checking how scalability and performance problems are solved at tech companies. The section of intelligence are created for those who work with data and machine learning at big (data) and deep (learning) scale.

android-architecture - A collection of samples to discuss and showcase different architectural tools and patterns for Android apps

The Android framework provides a lot of flexibility in deciding how to organize and architect an Android app. While this freedom is very valuable, it can also lead to apps with large classes, inconsistent naming schemes, as well as mismatching or missing architectures. These types of issues can make testing, maintaining and extending your apps difficult. The Android Architecture Blueprints project demonstrates strategies to help solve or avoid these common problems. This project implements the same app using different architectural concepts and tools.

phalcon-rest - A Base project for APIs using the Phalcon framework

  •    Puppet

The Phalcon framework is an awesome PHP framework that exists as a C-extension to the language. This allows it to be incredibly fast. But aside from its quickness, it is an amazingly powerful fraemwork with excellent documentation that follows many best practises of modern software development. This includes using the Direct Injection pattern to handle service resolution across classes, a PSR-0 compliant autoloader, MVC architecture (or not), caching handlers for database, flatfile, redis, etc.. and a ton of additional features. The purpose of this project is to establish a base project with Phalcon that uses the best practices from the Phalcon Framework to implement best practises of API Design.

android-best-practices - Do's and Don'ts for Android development, by Futurice developers

Avoid reinventing the wheel by following these guidelines. Lessons learned from Android developers in Futurice. If you are interested in iOS or Windows Phone development, be sure to check also our iOS Good Practices and Windows App Development Best Practices documents. Place your Android SDK somewhere in your home directory or some other application-independent location. Some distributions of IDEs include the SDK when installed, and may place it under the same directory as the IDE. This can be bad when you need to upgrade (or reinstall) the IDE, as you may lose your SDK installation, forcing a long and tedious redownload.

angularjs-in-patterns - AngularJS in patterns - this repository provides different look into AngularJS

  •    Javascript

One of the best ways to learn something new is to see how the things you already know are used in it. This document does not intend to make its readers familiar with the design or architectural patterns; it suggests basic understanding of the concepts of the OOP, design patterns and architectural patterns. The goal of this paper is to describe how different software design and architectural patterns are applied in AngularJS or any AngularJS single-page application. The document begins with brief overview of the AngularJS framework. The overview explains the main AngularJS components - directives, filters, controllers, services, scope. The second section lists and describes different design and architectural patterns, which are implemented inside the framework. The patterns are grouped by the AngularJS component they are used in. If some patterns are used inside multiple components it will be explicitly mentioned.
