RustBooks - List of Rust books

  •

Welcome! This book will teach you about the Rust Programming Language. Rust is a systems programming language focused on three goals: safety, speed, and concurrency. It maintains these goals without having a garbage collector, making it a useful language for a number of use cases other languages aren’t good at: embedding in other languages, programs with specific space and time requirements, and writing low-level code, like device drivers and operating systems. It improves on current languages targeting this space by having a number of compile-time safety checks that produce no runtime overhead, while eliminating all data races. Rust also aims to achieve ‘zero-cost abstractions’ even though some of these abstractions feel like those of a high-level language. Even then, Rust still allows precise control like a low-level language would. This is Rust-101, a small tutorial for the Rust language. It is intended to be an interactive, hands-on course: I believe the only way to really learn a language is to write code in it, so you should be coding during the course. If you have any questions that are not answered here, check out the "Additional Resources" below. In particular, the IRC channel is filled with awesome people willing to help you! I spent lots of time there ;-) I will assume some familiarity with programming, and hence not explain the basic concepts common to most languages. Instead, I will focus on what makes Rust special.

coreutils - Cross-platform Rust rewrite of the GNU coreutils

  •    Rust

uutils is an attempt at writing universal (as in cross-platform) CLI utils in Rust. This repo is to aggregate the GNU coreutils rewrites. Many GNU, Linux and other utils are pretty awesome, and obviously some effort has been spent in the past to port them to Windows. However, those projects are either old, abandoned, hosted on CVS, written in platform-specific C, etc.

wasm-and-rust - WebAssembly and Rust: A Web Love Story

  •

You can check out about:config (Firefox) or chrome://flags/ (Chrome) and make sure wasm related things are enabled. WebAssembly or WASM is a low-level bytecode format for in-browser client-side scripting, evolved from JavaScript. Its initial aim is to support compilation from C and C++, though other source languages such as Rust are also supported.

rust-doom - A Doom Renderer written in Rust.

  •    Rust

A little Doom 1 & 2 Renderer written in Rust. Mostly written while I was learning the language about 2 years ago, so it might not the best example of Rust code! PR-s are welcome. The code is mostly based on the endlessly useful Doom Wiki and the Unofficial Doom Specs. It is not a port of the original Doom C source code into Rust; I've been doing my best to make the code as idiomatic as possible and have not looked at the original in a long time.

lsd - The next gen ls command

  •    Rust

This project is heavily inspired by the super colorls project but with some little differences. For example it is written in rust and not in ruby which makes it much faster. Install the patched fonts of powerline nerd-font and/or font-awesome. Have a look at the Nerd Font README for more installation instructions. Don't forget to setup your terminal in order to use the correct font.

bitwarden_rs - Unofficial Bitwarden compatible server written in Rust

  •    Rust

Image is based on Rust implementation of Bitwarden API. *Note, that this project is not associated with the Bitwarden project nor 8bit Solutions LLC.

not-awesome-es6-classes - A curated list of resources on why ES6 (aka ES2015) classes are NOT awesome

  •

Reverse-inspired by all of the awesome lists on GitHub, like Awesome, Awesome Awesomeness, Awesome JavaScript, Awesome React, Awesome Cycle.js, Awesome Go, Awesome Elixir, Awesome Elm, etc. While ES6 brings several useful and syntactically pleasing new features to JavaScript, there are many people in the JS community who feel that adding class syntax to the language was a mistake. I share this sentiment, but I have encountered quite a few programmers in the wild who don't agree or simply don't seem to understand why some of us have this opinion. So, I wanted to create an online reference where people could come to learn specifically about this issue and why they might not actually need class syntax in JavaScript.

rust-media - A free, comprehensive, and portable video/audio streaming library for Rust

  •    Rust

rust-media is a media player framework for Rust, similar in spirit to libvlc or GStreamer. It's designed for use in Servo but is intended to be widely useful for all sorts of projects. Possible use cases are background music and FMVs for video games, as well as media player applications. The master branch of rust-media is currently pinned to the same version of Rust that Servo uses. The nightly branch is intended to track the current Rust nightly; however, like many Rust projects, it may be out of date.

rust-mode - Emacs configuration for Rust

  •    Emacs

rust-mode makes editing Rust code with Emacs enjoyable. rust-mode requires Emacs 24 or later. This associates rust-mode with .rs files. To enable it explicitly, do M-x rust-mode.

rust-for-node-developers - An introduction to the Rust programming language for Node developers.

  •    Rust

An introduction to the Rust programming language for Node developers. Hi there, I'm a JavaScript developer who wants to learn Rust and as a part of this process I'll write here about my learnings. So what is Rust actually and why should you learn it? Rust is a systems programming language like C or C++, but with influences from functional programming languages and even scripting languages like JavaScript. It feels very modern - which is no surprise, because it is a relatively young language. It went 1.0 in 2015! That doesn't only mean it is fun to write, because it has less clutter to carry around, it is also fun to use, because it has a modern toolchain with a great package manager. Rust's most unique feature is probably the compile-time safety check: it catches errors like segfaults without introducing a garbage collector. Or to phrase it differently: maximum safety with maximum performance.

rust-sgx-sdk - Rust SGX SDK provides the ability to write Intel SGX applications in Rust Programming Language

  •    Rust

To achieve better security, we recommend developers to apply Non-bypassable Security Paradigm (NbSP) to the system design and implementation. This version supports Rust nightly build (nightly-2018-10-01) in the master branch and the most recent stable build (stable-2018-09-25) in the rust-stable branch. It supports the latest Intel SGX SDK v2.3.1 and Ubuntu Linux 18.04. It now contains further third party libraries including: bit-vec, chrono, erased-serde, fxhash, nan-preserving-float, num-bigint, quick-error, raft-rs, time, webpki-roots, and yasna. Some third party libraries, like untrusted, parity-wasm and lazy-static, are removed because they support no_std and can be used directly from crates.io. We strongly recommend developers upgrade to v1.0.4 and use the most recent Rust release to build it due to the Security advisory for the standard library. Please refer to release_notes for further details.

yaml-rust - A pure rust YAML implementation.

  •    Rust

The missing YAML 1.2 implementation for Rust. yaml-rust is a pure Rust YAML 1.2 implementation, which enjoys the memory safety property and other benefits from the Rust language. The parser is heavily influenced by libyaml and yaml-cpp.

awesome-android - A curated list of awesome Android packages and resources.

  •

A curated list of awesome Android libraries and resources. For general Java libraries have a look at awesome-java. My personal recommendation is (for now) to use the android api to build a native app. Scala can help to build this native apps with cleaner code but it adds to many methods (Multidex required). Kotlin is a modern language with 100% interoperatibility with java projects without multidex. But there are also use cases where alternatives like cross-platform development can be useful.

Fork-Awesome - A fork of the iconic font and CSS toolkit (Font-Awesome 4.7)

  •    CSS

Fork Awesome is a full suite of 718 pictographic icons for easy scalable vector graphics on websites, originally created by Dave Gandy and now maintained by a community. Following concerns regarding the development of Font Awesome, the PR Freeze since Oct 2016 and the direction Fort Awesome is taking with the version 5.0 of their project, we are forking Font Awesome (4.7), in order to build on this incredible tool Dave Gandy has given us, while at the same time allowing this project to be run by a distributed community of contributors.
