quixote - CSS unit and integration testing

  •    Javascript

Quixote is a library for testing CSS. It's fast—over 100 tests/second—and has a powerful API. You can use it for unit testing (test your CSS files directly) or integration testing (test against a real server). Either way, your tests check how HTML elements are actually rendered by the browser. Quixote runs in the browser and works with any test framework. You can even test multiple browsers simultaneously by using a tool such as Karma or Test'em. It works in modern desktop browsers, mobile browsers, and IE 8+.

gnomock - Test your code without writing mocks with ephemeral Docker containers 📦 Setup popular services with just a couple lines of code ⏱️ No bash, no yaml, only code 💻

  •    Go

Gnomock is an integration and end-to-end testing toolkit. It uses Docker to create temporary containers for application dependencies, setup their initial state and clean them up in the end. Gnomock allows to test the code with no mocks wherever possible. The power of Gnomock is in a variety of Presets, each implementing a specific database, service or other tools. Each preset provides ways of setting up its initial state as easily as possible: SQL schema creation, test data upload into S3, sending test events to Splunk, etc.

Codeception - Full-stack testing PHP framework

Codeception is a modern full-stack testing framework for PHP. Inspired by BDD, it provides an absolutely new way of writing acceptance, functional and even unit tests. Powered by PHPUnit. Codeception provides high-level domain language for tests. Tests are represented as a set of user's actions. Tests can be executed using Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Cloud Testing services with Selenium WebDriver. Browser can be emulated with HTTP-requests through CURL with PhpBrowser.

dockertest - Write better integration tests! Dockertest helps you boot up ephermal docker images for your Go tests with minimal work

  •    Go

When developing applications, it is often necessary to use services that talk to a database system. Unit Testing these services can be cumbersome because mocking database/DBAL is strenuous. Making slight changes to the schema implies rewriting at least some, if not all of the mocks. The same goes for API changes in the DBAL. To avoid this, it is smarter to test these specific services against a real database that is destroyed after testing. Docker is the perfect system for running unit tests as you can spin up containers in a few seconds and kill them when the test completes. The Dockertest library provides easy to use commands for spinning up Docker containers and using them for your tests.Using Dockertest is straightforward and simple. KIF - Keep It Functional - An iOS Functional Testing Framework

  •    Objective-C

IMPORTANT! Even though KIF is used to test your UI, you need to add it to your Unit Test target, not your UI Test target. The magic of KIF is that it allows you to drive your UI from your unit tests and reap all the advantages of testing in-process. KIF, which stands for Keep It Functional, is an iOS integration test framework. It allows for easy automation of iOS apps by leveraging the accessibility attributes that the OS makes available for those with visual disabilities.

atoum - The modern, simple and intuitive PHP unit testing framework.

  •    PHP

To accomplish that, it massively uses capabilities provided by PHP, to give the developer a whole new way of writing unit tests. Therefore, it can be installed and integrated into an existing project extremely easily, since it is only a single PHAR archive, which is the one and only entry point for the developer. Also, thanks to its fluent interface, it allows for writing unit tests in a fashion close to natural language. It also makes it easier to implement stubbing within tests, thanks to intelligent uses of anonymous functions and closures. atoum natively, and by default, performs the execution of each unit test within a separate PHP process, to warrant isolation. Of course, it can be used seamlessly for continuous integration, and given its design, it can be made to cope with specific needs extremely easily. atoum also accomplishes all of this without affecting performance, since it has been developed to boast a reduced memory footprint while allowing for hastened test execution. It can also generate unit test execution reports in the Xunit format, which makes it compatible with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins. atoum also generates code coverage reports, in order to make it possible to supervise unit tests. Finally, even though it is developed mainly on UNIX, it can also work on Windows. If Xdebug or equivalent gets displayed, then the module is properly installed.

pact_broker - Enables your consumer driven contracts workflow

  •    Ruby

The Pact Broker is an application for sharing for consumer driven contracts and verification results. It is optimised for use with "pacts" (contracts created by the Pact framework), but can be used for any type of contract that can be serialized to JSON. Contract testing is an alternative approach to traditional integration testing that gives you tests that are quicker to execute, and that are more maintainable at scale. One down side of the approach is that the important information that would be available all in one place at the end of an integration test suite execution (that is, the version numbers of all the applications that were tested together, and whether the tests passed or failed) is now spread out across many different builds. The Pact Broker is a tool that brings all this information back together again, and allows you to deploy with safety.
