Inspired by https://github.com/fdw/rofimoji but written as rofi-script instead of starting a separate rofi. It automatically downloads the list of emojis when used for the first time. To avoid that, simply place emoji.txt from this repository in $HOME/.cache/ yourself. But don't worry too much, the download is pretty quick (~350kb text file).

Color and Black-and-White Noto emoji fonts, and tools for working with them. Building NotoColorEmoji currently requires a Python 2.x wide build. To build the emoji font you will require a few files from nototools. Clone a copy from https://github.com/googlei18n/nototools and either put it in your PYTHONPATH or use 'python setup.py develop' ('install' currently won't fully install all the data used by nototools). You will also need fontTools, get it from https://github.com/behdad/fonttools.git.

It's nice to show them on other devices too, and the browser is a good place to do it. This library converts emoji (either from character codes or colon-sequences like ) into something that will work on the host computer - either native character codes, a CSS styled span or a text representation. You can use either bundled or downloadable emoji fonts. This sample shows both usages. The EmojiCompat support library aims to keep Android devices up to date with the latest emoji. It prevents your app from showing missing emoji characters in the form of ☐, which indicates that your device does not have a font to display the text. By using the EmojiCompat support library, your app users do not need to wait for Android OS updates to get the latest emoji.
