rofiemoji - emoji shell extension for rofi

Inspired by https://github.com/fdw/rofimoji but written as rofi-script instead of starting a separate rofi. It automatically downloads the list of emojis when used for the first time. To avoid that, simply place emoji.txt from this repository in $HOME/.cache/ yourself. But don't worry too much, the download is pretty quick (~350kb text file).

To build the emoji font you will require a few files from nototools. js-emoji - A JS Emoji conversion library

Most macOS and iOS versions allow display and input of emoji. It's nice to show them on other devices too, and the browser is a good place to do it. This library converts emoji (either from character codes or colon-sequences like :smile:) into something that will work on the host computer - either native character codes, a CSS styled span or a text representation. Terminals on Linux render emojis in monochrome as they don't support color emojis. On Linux, I would recommend installing Emoji One for full emoji coverage. Doesn't really work on Windows.

A color and B&W emoji SVGinOT font built from the Twitter Emoji for Everyone artwork with support for ZWJ, skin tone diversity and country flags. The font works in all operating systems, but will currently only show color emoji in Firefox, Thunderbird, Photoshop CC 2017, and Windows Edge V38.14393+. This is not a limitation of the font, but of the operating systems and applications. Regular B&W outline emoji are included for backwards/fallback compatibility.
