swift-llbuild - A low-level build system, used by Xcode 9 and the Swift Package Manager

  •    C++

A low-level build system. llbuild is a set of libraries for building build systems. Unlike most build system projects which focus on the syntax for describing the build, llbuild is designed around a reusable, flexible, and scalable general purpose build engine capable of solving many "build system"-like problems. The project also includes additional libraries on top of that engine which provide support for constructing bespoke build systems (like swift build) or for building from Ninja manifests.

  •    Elixir

Hex is package manager for the Erlang VM. This project currently provides tasks that integrate with Mix, Elixir's build tool.

rebar3 - Erlang build tool that makes it easy to compile and test Erlang applications and releases.

  •    Erlang

Rebar3 is an Erlang tool that makes it easy to create, develop, and release Erlang libraries, applications, and systems in a repeatable manner. Rebar3 is also a self-contained Erlang script. It is easy to distribute or embed directly in a project. Tasks or behaviours can be modified or expanded with a plugin system flexible enough that even other languages on the Erlang VM will use it as a build tool.

ios-project-env-setup - Setup your iOS project environment with a Shellscript, Makefile or Rakefile

  •    Swift

Nowadays an iOS project is more than only a *.xcodeproj file with some self-written Objective-C or Swift files. We have a lot of direct and indirect external dependencies in our projects and each new developer on the project or the build server have to get these. Developers need these before working on the app and the build server to build and deploy the app. Code: Because we don’t want reinvent the wheel for parts of our apps again and again, we use third-party libraries for common use cases. E.g. we use Alamofire for our network stack. Also, we want use the latest and hopefully greatest version of each dependency, to get the newest features and especially critical bug fixes almost automatically. To reach this goal you should use a dependency manager, which cares about these problems. The principle „never change a running“ system should not apply to third-party dependencies. Especially if these are responsible for critical parts of the app, like encryption.

mmake - Modern Make

  •    Go

Mmake is a small program which wraps make to provide additional functionality, such as user-friendly help output, remote includes, and eventually more. It otherwise acts as a pass-through to standard make.Make's primary function is not to serve as a "task runner", however it's often used for that scenario due to its ubiquitous nature, and if you're already using it, why not! Make is however lacking a built-in mechanism for displaying help information.

  •    C

build2 is an open source (MIT), cross-platform toolchain for building and packaging C++ code. It includes the build system (build2), package manager (bpkg), and repository web interface (brep).

task - A task runner / simpler Make alternative written in Go

  •    Go

Task is a simple tool that allows you to easily run development and build tasks. Task is written in Golang, but can be used to develop any language. It aims to be simpler and easier to use then GNU Make.Or you can download the binary from the releases page and add to your PATH. DEB and RPM packages are also available. The task_checksums.txt file contains the SHA-256 checksum for each file.

godep helps build packages reproducibly by fixing their dependencies. This tool assumes you are working in a standard Go workspace, as described in http://golang.org/doc/code.html. We expect godep to build on Go 1.4* or newer, but you can use it on any project that works with Go 1 or newer.

loadrunner - Simple, flexible and sane JavaScript loader and build tool for browsers.

  •    Javascript

Loadrunner is a JavaScript dependency manager. Loadrunner started off as my science project script loader and module system but its turned into a generic dependency manager that you can build on to manage any type of asynchronous dependency from CSS templates to DOM events to cache loading. It does however include build in support for loading regular JavaScript files, AMD modules and its own, more elegant (IMHO) flavour of modules.

meson - The Meson Build System

  •    Python

If you wish you can install it locally with the standard Python distutils command python3 setup.py install <your options here>. Meson is also available from PyPi, so it can be installed with pip3 install meson (this does not require a source checkout, pip will download the package automatically). The exact command to type to install with pip can vary between systems, be sure to use the Python 3 version of pip.
