wifi-connect - Easy WiFi setup for Linux devices from your mobile phone or laptop

  •    Rust

WiFi Connect is a utility for dynamically setting the WiFi configuration on a Linux device via a captive portal. WiFi credentials are specified by connecting with a mobile phone or laptop to the access point that WiFi Connect creates. WiFi Connect interacts with NetworkManager, which should be the active network manager on the device's host OS.

esp8266_deauther - Scan for WiFi devices, block selected connections, create dozens of networks and confuse WiFi scanners!

  •    C

This software allows you to easily perform a variety of actions to test 802.11 wireless networks by using an inexpensive ESP8266 WiFi SoC (System On A Chip). The main feature, the deauthentication attack, is used to disconnect devices from their WiFi network. No one seems to care about this huge vulnerability in the official 802.11 WiFi standard, so I took action and enabled everyone who has less than 10 USD to spare to recreate this project. I hope it raises more attention on the issue. In 2009 the WiFi Alliance actually fixed the problem (see 802.11w), but only a few companies implemented it into their devices and software. To effectively prevent a deauthentication attack, both client and access point must support the 802.11w standard with protected managment frames (PMF). While most client devices seem to support it when the access point forces it, basically no WiFi access point has it enabled.

raspap-webgui - A simple, responsive web interface to control wifi and hostapd on the Raspberry Pi

  •    PHP

A simple, responsive web interface to control wifi, hostapd and related services on the Raspberry Pi. This project was inspired by a blog post by SirLagz about using a web page rather than ssh to configure wifi and hostapd settings on the Raspberry Pi. I mostly just prettified the UI by wrapping it in SB Admin 2, a Bootstrap based admin theme. Since then, the project has evolved to include greater control over many aspects of a networked RPi, better security, authentication, a Quick Installer, support for themes and more. RaspAP has been featured on sites such as Instructables, Adafruit, Raspberry Pi Weekly and Awesome Raspberry Pi and implemented in countless projects.

VPNHotspot - Share your VPN connection over hotspot or repeater! (root required)

  •    Kotlin

P.S. You can also do the similar on Windows, Mac, and iOS. I don't know about you but I can't get my stupid Windows 10 to work with hosted network now that they introduced this Mobile hotspot. This app is designed to do only minimal changes to your system, so there's almost no chance you will brick your device and/or break your Internet using this app under normal conditions. However there's also absolutely no guarantee it won't.

find-lf - Track the location of every Wi-Fi device (:iphone:) in your house using Raspberry Pis and FIND

  •    Go

This is a extension of FIND, the Framework for Internal Navigation and Discovery, which is based on the idea of Lucius Fox's sonar system in The Dark Knight that is used to track cellphones. The system uses a network of Raspberry Pis which sniff the WiFi probe requests from WiFi-enabled devices and sends these parcels to a central server which compiles and forwards the fingerprint to the FIND server which then uses machine learning to classify the location based on the unique WiFi fingerprints.

iSniff-GPS - Passive sniffing tool for capturing and visualising WiFi location data disclosed by iOS devices

  •    Python

iSniff GPS passively sniffs for SSID probes, ARPs and MDNS (Bonjour) packets broadcast by nearby iPhones, iPads and other wireless devices. The aim is to collect data which can be used to identify each device and determine previous geographical locations, based solely on information each device discloses about previously joined WiFi networks. iOS devices transmit ARPs which sometimes contain MAC addresses (BSSIDs) of previously joined WiFi networks, as described in [1]. iSniff GPS captures these ARPs and submits MAC addresses to Apple's WiFi location service (masquerading as an iOS device) to obtain GPS coordinates for a given BSSID. If only SSID probes have been captured for a particular device, iSniff GPS can query network names on wigle.net and visualise possible locations.

howmanypeoplearearound - Count the number of people around you :family_man_man_boy: by monitoring wifi signals :satellite:

  •    Python

Count the number of people around you 👨‍👨‍👦 by monitoring wifi signals 📡.howmanypeoplearearound calculates the number of people in the vicinity using the approximate number of smartphones as a proxy (since ~70% of people have smartphones nowadays). A cellphone is determined to be in proximity to the computer based on sniffing WiFi probe requests. Possible uses of howmanypeoplearearound include: monitoring foot traffic in your house with Raspberry Pis, seeing if your roommates are home, etc.

proxygambit - Anonymize and fracture network traffic/Internet access over a point-to-point wireless link or through TCP->GSM->wifi tunnel (advanced resurrection of ProxyHam)

  •    Arduino

ProxyGambit is a simple anonymization device that allows you to access the Internet from anywhere in the world without revealing your true location or IP, fracturing your traffic from the Internet/IP through either a long distance radio link or a reverse tunneled GSM bridge that ultimately drops back onto the Internet and exits through a wireless network you're no where near. While a point to point link is supported, the reverse GSM-to-TCP bridge allows you to proxy from thousands of miles away with nothing other than a computer and Internet with no direct link back to your originating machine.

CommonsNet - Sharing and Transparency for WiFi Networks

  •    Javascript

Across the world there are different legal settings and requirements for sharing of Internet connections and specifically Open Wifi connections. CommonsNet website reflects these details. We provide with a great tool to collect all wifi details and enable people to share them with others. Our simple and easy-to-follow form let gather WiFi information in a orderly and transparent manner, and then immediately generate a human readable file to download or machine readable file of the level of sharing that is offered by someone to copy and paste on website and make transparent details public.

nexmon - The C-based Firmware Patching Framework for Broadcom/Cypress WiFi Chips that enables Monitor Mode, Frame Injection and much more

  •    C

Nexmon is our C-based firmware patching framework for Broadcom/Cypress WiFi chips that enables you to write your own firmware patches, for example, to enable monitor mode with radiotap headers and frame injection. Before we started to work on this repository, we developed patches for the Nexus 5 (with bcm4339 WiFi chip) in the bcm-public repository and those for the Raspberry Pi 3 (with bcm43430a1 WiFi chip) in the bcm-rpi3 repository. To remove the development overhead of maintaining multiple separate repositories, we decided to merge them in this repository and add support for some additional devices. In contrast to the former repositories, here, you can only build the firmware patch without drivers and kernels. The Raspberry Pi 3 makes an exception, as here it is always required to also build the driver.

raspberry-wifi-conf - Raspberry Pi Node application which makes connecting to your home wifi easier

  •    Javascript

When unable to connect to a wifi network, this service will turn the RPI into a wireless AP. This allows us to connect to it via a phone or other device and configure our home wifi network (for example). Once configured, it prompts the PI to reboot with the appropriate wifi credentials. If this process fails, it immediately re-enables the PI as an AP which can be configurable again.

CIITIX-WiFi

whereami - Uses WiFi signals :signal_strength: and machine learning to predict where you are

  •    Python

Uses WiFi signals and machine learning (sklearn's RandomForest) to predict where you are. Even works for small distances like 2-10 meters. Your computer will known whether you are on Couch #1 or Couch #2.

aircrack-ng - WiFi security auditing tools suite

  •    C

Aircrack-ng is a complete suite of tools to assess WiFi network security. All tools are command line which allows for heavy scripting. A lot of GUIs have taken advantage of this feature. It works primarily Linux but also Windows, OS X, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, as well as Solaris and even eComStation 2.
