microjs.com - Fantastic Micro-Frameworks and Micro-Libraries for Fun and Profit!

  •        21

Micro-frameworks are definitely the pocketknives of the JavaScript library world: short, sweet, to the point. And at 5k and under, micro-frameworks are very very portable. A micro-framework does one thing and one thing only — and does it well. No cruft, no featuritis, no feature creep, no excess anywhere. MicroJS.com helps you discover the most compact-but-powerful microframeworks, and makes it easy for you to pick one that’ll work for you.

  •    CSharp

Welcome to the .NET Micro Framework interpreter GitHub repository. The Microsoft® .NET Micro Framework combines the reliability and efficiency of managed code with the premier development tools of Microsoft Visual Studio® to deliver exceptional productivity for developing embedded applications on small devices. The Microsoft .NET Micro Framework SDK supports development of code, including device I/O, in the C# language using a subset of the .NET libraries, and is fully integrated with the Microsoft Visual Studio® development environment. The .NET Micro Framework class library supports all major namespaces and types from the desktop framework, managed drivers support, Remote Firmware Updates and Cryptographic functions for Secure Devices. This GitHub project allows building the full SDK and device Firmware images including the lwIP open source TCP/IP stack and the OpenSSL distribution.

chibi - A tiny JavaScript micro-library

  •    Javascript

Think it's OK to serve up 30KB over 3G just to manipulate a couple of DOM elements? Of course you don't because that's an asshat move and you're no asshat. You'll probably instead use a couple of lines of vanilla JavaScript, perhaps a little CSS :active with transitions, all while riding a unicorn bareback through a double rainbow, no hands. Working on something a wee bit more complex? Unlike fat, grown-up frameworks and libraries, Chibi focuses on just the essentials, melted down and mixed with optimisation rainbows to create a really light micro-library that allows you to do awesome things, asshatory free.

micron - a [μ] microInteraction library built with CSS Animations and controlled by JavaScript Power

  •    CSS

Micron.JS is a micro interaction library which can be used to add Interactions to different DOM Elements. Micron.JS animates an element using CSS power and the interactive behaviours are controlled by JavaScript. Micron.JS is easy to adapt and can bring interactions to life using html5 data attributes or a chain of JavaScript methods.

PC/SC Micro

  •

PC/SC Micro is an API and a library. The API is a subset of the PC/SC Lite API and allows a .NET Micro Framework application to communicate with a smart card (SC). The library interfaces to the SC reader chip. PC/SC Micro facilitates strong security within embedded devices.

dragscroll - micro library for drag-n-drop scrolling style

  •    Javascript

Dragscroll is a micro JavaScript library (910 bytes minified) which enables scrolling via holding the mouse button ("drag and drop" or "click and hold" style, online demo). It has no dependencies and is written in vanilla JavaScript (which means it works anywhere). That's it! Now you can scroll it by dragging. You can also add the dragscroll class to the <body> element and drag the whole page.

klein - werkzeug + twisted.web

  •    Python

Klein is a micro-framework for developing production-ready web services with Python. It is 'micro' in that it has an incredibly small API similar to Bottle and Flask. It is not 'micro' in that it depends on things outside the standard library. This is primarily because it is built on widely used and well tested components like Werkzeug and Twisted. A Klein bottle is an example of a non-orientable surface, and a glass Klein bottle looks like a twisted bottle or twisted flask. This, of course, made it too good of a pun to pass up.

MicroLinq : Libraries for .NET Micro Framework

  •    CSharp

MicroLinq aims to bring a subset of the power of Linq to the .NET Micro Framework. An emphasis is placed on efficiency and compactness. The project is written in C# and is split into multiple libraries to keep project footprints as small as possible.

go-micro - A pluggable RPC framework for microservices

  •    Go

Go Micro is a pluggable RPC framework for microservices. It is part of the Micro toolkit. The Micro philosophy is sane defaults with a pluggable architecture. We provide defaults to get you started quickly but everything can be easily swapped out. It comes with built in support for {json,proto}-rpc encoding, consul or multicast dns for service discovery, http for communication and random hashed client side load balancing.

Micro - A modern and intuitive terminal-based text editor

  •    Go

Micro is a terminal-based text editor that aims to be easy to use and intuitive, while also taking advantage of the full capabilities of modern terminals. It comes as one single, batteries-included, static binary with no dependencies, and you can download and use it right now. As the name indicates, micro aims to be somewhat of a successor to the nano editor by being easy to install and use in a pinch, but micro also aims to be enjoyable to use full time, whether you work in the terminal because you prefer it (like me), or because you need to (over ssh).

particulate-js - Particle physics micro library.

  •    Javascript

Particulate.js is a JavaScript particle physics micro library designed to be simple, extensible, fast, and stable; it is capable of running a simulation with tens of thousands of particles and tens of thousands of constraints in real time. The core system is derived from that described in Advanced Character Physics by Thomas Jakobsen. The library provides an interface for defining a particle system with many inter-particle constraints and globally acting forces. Internal management of particle positions and state is designed to be easily integrated with a WebGL rendering pipeline, although no specific rendering scheme is required.

oboe.js - A streaming approach to JSON.

  •    Javascript

Oboe.js is an open source Javascript library for loading JSON using streaming, combining the convenience of DOM with the speed and fluidity of SAX. It can parse any JSON as a stream, is small enough to be a micro-library, doesn't have dependencies, and doesn't care which other libraries you need it to speak to.

pippo - Micro Java Web Framework

  •    Java

The goal of this project is to create a micro web framework in Java that should be easy to use and hack. Pippo can be used in small and medium applications and also in applications based on micro services architecture. Also, Pippo comes with a very small footprint that makes it excellent for embedded devices (Raspberry Pi for example).

hemera - 🔬 Writing reliable & fault-tolerant microservices with https://nats.io

  •    Javascript

Hemera (/ˈhɛmərə/; Ancient Greek: Ἡμέρα [hɛːméra] "day") is a small wrapper around the NATS driver. NATS is a simple, fast and reliable solution for the internal communication of a distributed system. It chooses simplicity and reliability over guaranteed delivery. We want to provide a toolkit to develop micro services in an easy and powerful way. We provide a pattern matching RPC style. You don't have to worry about the transport. NATS is powerful.Hemera has not been designed for high performance on a single process. It has been designed to create lots of microservices doesn't matter where they live. It choose simplicity and reliability as primary goals. It act together with NATS as central nervous system of your distributed system. Transport independency was not considered to be a relevant factor. In addition we use pattern matching which is very powerful. The fact that Hemera needs a broker is an argument which should be taken into consideration when you compare hemera with other frameworks. The relevant difference between microservice frameworks like senecajs, molecurer is not the performance or modularity its about the complexity you need to manage. Hemera is expert in providing an interface to work with lots of services in the network, NATS is the expert to deliver the message at the right place. Hemera is still a subscriber of NATS with some magic in routing and extensions. We don't have to worry about all different aspects in a distributed system like routing, load-balancing, service-discovery, clustering, health-checks ...
