Middleman - Hand-crafted frontend development

  •    Ruby

Middleman is a static site generator using all the shortcuts and tools in modern web development. These days, many websites are built with an API in mind. Rather than package the frontend and the backend together, both can be built and deployed independently using the public API to pull data from the backend and display it on the frontend. Static websites are incredibly fast and require very little RAM. A front-end built to stand-alone can be deployed directly to the cloud or a CDN. Many designers and developers simply deliver static HTML/JS/CSS to their clients.

  •    HTML

Now, all Pure CSS files should be built into the `pure/build/` directory. Allfiles that are in this build directory are also available on the CDN. The namingconventions of the files in the `build/` directory follow these rules:* `[module]-core.css`: The minimal set of styles, ususally structural, that provide the base on which the rest of the module's styles build.* `[module]-nr.css`: Rollup of `[module]-core.css` + `[module].css` + `[module]-[feature].css` from the `src/[module]/` dir. bootstrap-ie7 - Bootstrap 3 CSS for IE7

  •

Bootstrap 3 dropped support for Internet Explorer 7, but you can add it back by simply adding this conditional CSS. A. Yes, thanks to JSDelivr: https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/coliff/bootstrap-ie7/css/bootstrap-ie7.min.css, however the box sizing polyfill requires the CSS to be hosted locally so the layout will be broken if you serve the CSS from a CDN.

iconizr - A PHP command line tool for converting SVG images to a set of CSS icons (SVG & PNG, single icons and / or CSS sprites) with support for image optimization and Sass output

  •    CSS

To leverage iconizr to the greatest extent possible, some additional tools have to be installed on the system independently (see below). iconizr is written in (namespaced) PHP and meant to be used on the (Linux) command line (i.e. with the PHP CLI SAPI). To be honest, there was only one reason making me go for PHP: It is what I know best. Im sure there are quite some other fancy modern languages and techniques one could use for achieving the same, but I guess I'm just not smart enough for those. Having said this, I'd welcome anyone contributing a port of iconizr.

notify-better - An all in one jQuery plugin that let you change your favicon, browser's title and more to reflect new notifications

  •    Javascript

Dynamic favicon feature from this plugin only works with Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately, Safari and IE do not allow you to change the favicon after page load. If you are getting this error: "Failed to load resource: Origin null is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin." from our demo, try hosting this in your local server or if you are using OSX, move the demo folder into Library/WebServer/Documents and try visiting http://localhost/demo/index.html in your browser. The notification polling should work.
