httpinvoke - A no-dependencies HTTP client library for browsers and Node

  •    Javascript

A no-dependencies HTTP client library for browsers and Node.js with a promise-based or Node.js-style callback-based API to progress events, text and binary file upload and download, partial response body, request and response headers, status code. Any one, two or three arguments can be skipped, except the url.

xhr - A small xhr wrapper

  •    Javascript

A small XMLHttpRequest wrapper. Designed for use with browserify, webpack etc. API is a subset of request so you can write code that works in both node.js and the browser by using require('request') in your code and telling your browser bundler to load xhr instead of request.

frisbee - :dog2: Modern fetch-based alternative to axios/superagent/request

  •    Javascript

tldr; Stripe-inspired API wrapper for WHATWG's fetch() method for making simple HTTP requests (alternative to superagent, request, axios). If you're using node-fetch, you need node-fetch@v1.5.3 to use form-data with files properly (due to https://github.com/bitinn/node-fetch/issues/102) If you experience form file upload issues, please see https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/7564#issuecomment-266323928.

request-promise - The simplified HTTP request client 'request' with Promise support

  •    Javascript

The simplified HTTP request client 'request' with Promise support. Powered by Bluebird.Request and Bluebird are pretty awesome, but I found myself using the same design pattern. Request-Promise adds a Bluebird-powered .then(...) method to Request call objects. By default, http response codes other than 2xx will cause the promise to be rejected. This can be overwritten by setting options.simple = false.

reqwest - browser asynchronous http requests

  •    Javascript

All over again. Includes support for xmlHttpRequest, JSONP, CORS, and CommonJS Promises A. It is also isomorphic allowing you to require('reqwest') in Node.js through the peer dependency xhr2, albeit the original intent of this library is for the browser. For a more thorough solution for Node.js, see mikeal/request.

request-promise-native - The simplified HTTP request client 'request' with Promise support

  •    Javascript

This package is similar to request-promise but uses native ES6 promises.request is defined as a peer-dependency and thus has to be installed separately.

react-relay-network-layer - ReactRelayNetworkLayer with middlewares and query batching for Relay Classic

  •    Javascript

The ReactRelayNetworkLayer is a Relay Network Layer with various middlewares which can manipulate requests/responses on the fly (change auth headers, request url or perform some fallback if request fails), batch several relay request by timeout into one http request. ReactRelayNetworkLayer can be used in browser, react-native or node server for rendering. Under the hood this module uses global fetch method. So if your client is too old, please import explicitly proper polyfill to your code (eg. whatwg-fetch, node-fetch or fetch-everywhere).

xr - Ultra-lightweight wrapper around XMLHttpRequest

  •    TypeScript

Really simple wrapper around XHR that provides a few bits of nice functionality, exposes the XHR object wherever relevant, and returns an ES6 Promise (or whatever Promise is set to globally, if you want to use something else). The idea was to make a pragmatic library that's pre-configured for the 90% use case, but override-able for anyone that wants to do anything a bit off the beaten track.

php-restclient - A generic REST API client for PHP

headers - An associative array of HTTP headers and values to be included in every request. parameters - An associative array of URL or body parameters to be included in every request. curl_options - cURL options to apply to every request; anything defined here: https://secure.php.net/manual/en/function.curl-setopt.php. These will override any automatically generated values. build_indexed_queries (bool) - http_build_query automatically adds an array index to repeated parameters which is not desirable on most systems. Use this option to enable the default behavior. Defaults to FALSE. user_agent - User agent string to use in requests. base_url - URL to use for the base of each request. format - Format string is appended to resource on request (extension), and used to determine which decoder to use on response; a request URL like "api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/user_timeline.json" would be expected to return well-formed JSON. format_regex - Pattern to extract format from response Content-Type header, used to determine which decoder to use on response. decoders - Associative array of format decoders. See "Direct Iteration and Response Decoding". username - Username to use for HTTP basic authentication. Requires password. password - Password to use for HTTP basic authentication. Requires username. url (string) - URL of the resource you are requesting. Will be prepended with the value of the base_url option, if it has been configured. Will be appended with the value of the format option, if it has been configured.

got - Simplified HTTP requests

  •    Javascript

A nicer interface to the built-in http module.Created because request is bloated (several megabytes!).

vue-resource - The HTTP client for Vue.js

  •    Javascript

The plugin for Vue.js provides services for making web requests and handle responses using a XMLHttpRequest or JSONP. You can install it via yarn or NPM.

xhook - Easily intercept and modify XHR request and response

  •    Javascript

Modifying any property of the request object will modify the underlying XHR before it is sent.

qwest - Ajax library with XHR2, promises and request limit

  •    Javascript

Qwest is a simple ajax library based on promises and that supports XmlHttpRequest2 special data like ArrayBuffer, Blob and FormData. The method is either get, post, put or delete. The data parameter can be a multi-dimensional array or object, a string, an ArrayBuffer, a Blob, etc... If you don't want to pass any data but specify some options, set data to null.

aja.js - Ajax without XML : Asynchronous JavaScript and JavaScript/JSON(P)

  •    Javascript

More options using the fluent api, terrific REST client. You need grunt >= 0.4 as well as node and npm installed and running on your system.

play-rest-security

  •    Java

The move towards Single Page Apps and RESTful services open the doors to a much better way of securing web applications. Traditional web applications use browser cookies to identify a user when a request is made to the server. This approach is fundamentally flawed and causes many applications to be vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks. When used correctly, RESTful services can avoid this vulnerability altogether. Before we go into the solution, lets recap the problem. HTTP is a stateless protocol. Make a request and get a response. Make another request and get another response. There is no correlation (i.e. "state") between these requests. This poses a problem when you need to identify a user to the system because one request logs the user in and another request needs to tell the server who is making the request.

php-proxy - A PHP proxy script with https and post support

  •    PHP

This is a HTTP/HTTPS proxy script that forwards requests to a different server and returns the response. The Proxy class uses PSR7 request/response objects as input/output, and uses Guzzle to do the actual HTTP request. The following example creates a request object, based on the current browser request, and forwards it to example.com. The RemoveEncodingFilter removes the encoding headers from the original response so that the current webserver can set these correctly.

angular-loading-bar - A fully automatic loading / progress bar for your angular apps.

  •    Javascript

The idea is simple: Add a loading bar / progress bar whenever an XHR request goes out in angular. Multiple requests within the same time period get bundled together such that each response increments the progress bar by the appropriate amount. This is mostly cool because you simply include it in your app, and it works. There's no complicated setup, and no need to maintain the state of the loading bar; it's all handled automatically by the interceptor.
