Select optimization level between 0 and 7. The optimization level 0 enables a set of optimization operations that require minimal effort. There will be no changes to image attributes like bit depth or color type, and no recompression of existing IDAT datastreams. The optimization level 1 enables a single IDAT compression trial. The trial chosen is what OptiPNG thinks it’s probably the most effective. The optimization levels 2 and higher enable multiple IDAT compression trials; the higher the level, the more trials.

imagemin-webpack-plugin - Plugin to compress images with imagemin

  •    Javascript

This is a simple plugin that uses Imagemin to compress all images in your project. This plugin will only run on files that match this test. This is similar to the webpack loader test option (but is not using the same implementation, so there might be major differences!). This can either be a RegExp object, a minimatch glob, a function which gets the filename and returns true if the file should be minified, or an array of any of them.

lepto - Automated image Editing, Optimization and Analysis via CLI and a web interface

  •    Javascript

The main purpose of this tool is to automate image optimization and analysis. This project is recent, so use it with care, I'm listening to all feedback (we can talk via twitter, don't follow me I never tweet). What is the difference with ImageMin? I think that if you deal with large applications, then go on ImageMin, but if you are building small static websites and you want to optimize your resources easily, then you could try lepto.

Mozjpeg - Improved JPEG encoder

  •    C

MozJPEG reduces file sizes of JPEG images while retaining quality and compatibility with the vast majority of the world's deployed decoders.MozJPEG is based on libjpeg-turbo. It's compatible with libjpeg API and ABI, and can be used as a drop-in replacement for libjpeg. MozJPEG makes tradeoffs that are intended to benefit Web use cases and focuses solely on improving encoding, so it's best used as part of a Web encoding workflow.

Flyimg - Microservice to resize and crop images on the fly

Image resizing, cropping and compression on the fly with the impressive MozJPEG compression algorithm. One Docker container to build your own Cloudinary-like service. You pass the image URL and a set of keys with options, like size or compression. Flyimg will fetch the image, convert it, store it, cache it and serve it. The next time the request comes, it will serve the cached version.

Leanify - lightweight lossless file minifier/optimizer

  •    C

Leanify is a lightweight lossless file minifier/optimizer. It removes unnecessary data (debug information, comments, metadata, etc.) and recompress the file to reduce file size. It will not reduce image quality at all. I'm not respossible for any consequence of using Leanify.

yall.js - A fast, flexible, and small image lazy loader!

  •    Javascript

yall.js is a featured-packed lazy loading script for <img>, <picture>, <video> and <iframe> elements. It works in all modern browsers including IE11. It uses Intersection Observer where available, but falls back to scroll, touchmove, resize, and orientationchange events where necessary. It can also monitor the DOM for changes using Mutation Observer to lazy load image elements that have been appended to the DOM after initial page render, which may be desirable for single page applications. It can also (optionally) optimize use of browser idle time using requestIdleCallback. To optimize decoding of <img> lazy loading for simple src and srcset use cases, yall.js uses Image.decode where available to decode images asynchronously before adding them to the DOM.
