ChangeDetection - Automatically track websites changes on Android in background.

  •    Kotlin

This app also showcases all the Android Architecture Components working together: Room, ViewModels, LiveData, Paging, WorkManager and Navigation. The app uses a Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) architecture for the presentation layer. Each of the fragments corresponds to a MVVM View. The View and ViewModel communicate using LiveData and general good principles.

android-arch-news-sample - News app built using new Android Architecture Guidelines and Kotlin

  •    Kotlin

It's an extremely simple app which uses NewsAPI to show the latest news from Google News. It uses Retrofit 2 to fetch the news from the API and save them into database using Room. The main aim of this sample app is show how to use the new Architecture Guidelines with Kotlin. The app uses ViewModel to abstract the data from UI and Repository as single source of truth for data. Repository fetch the data from database if it doesn't exist then it fetches from the webservice.

Android-Architecture-Components-Kotlin - Sample used to practice Kotlin and Android Architecture Components

  •    Kotlin

Android Sample Kotlin Devises (currency converter) used to practice Kotlin and Android Architecture Components. I wrote a post in my blog called Support of Kotlin & Architecture Components to explain how Android Architecture Components works.

Graywater - An Android library for decomposing RecyclerView layouts to improve scroll performance.

  •    Java

Graywater is a RecyclerView adapter that facilitates the performant decomposition of complex and varied list items. It does this by mapping large data models to multiple viewholders, splitting the work needed to create a complex list item over multiple frames. The concept is based off of Facebook's post on a faster news feed and Components for Android, which have been realized as Litho.

Posts - A sample Android app using Kotlin, Dagger 2, RxJava, RxAndroid, Retrofit and Android Architecture Components with a modular setup & effective networking

  •    Kotlin

A sample app to demonstrate the building of a good, modular and scalable Android app using Kotlin, Android Architecture Components (LiveData, ViewModel & Room), Dagger, RxJava and RxAndroid among others. Effective Networking - Using a combination of Retrofit, Rx, Room and LiveData, we are able to handle networking in the most effective way.

AndroidArchitecture - Recommended architecture by Android

  •    Java

Recommended architecture by Android. This repo shows that how to use LiveData, Room Persistence, Dagger 2, Retrofit, MVVM and DataBinding. Still under development. MovieList page is completed with recommended architecture techniques and new android components. Detail page will be completed soon. PRs are welcome. Replace your MovieDB API_KEY to run this example.

awesome-android - A curated list of awesome Android packages and resources.

A curated list of awesome Android libraries and resources. For general Java libraries have a look at awesome-java. My personal recommendation is (for now) to use the android api to build a native app. Scala can help to build this native apps with cleaner code but it adds to many methods (Multidex required). Kotlin is a modern language with 100% interoperatibility with java projects without multidex. But there are also use cases where alternatives like cross-platform development can be useful.

clean-architecture-components-boilerplate - A fork of our clean architecture boilerplate, this time using the Android Architecture Components

  •    Kotlin

Note: This is a fork of our original Clean Architecture Boilerplate, except in this repo we have switched out the MVP approach found in the presentation layer to now use ViewModels from the Android Architecture Components Library. The caching layer now also uses Room. Note: The use of clean architecture may seem over-complicated for this sample project. However, this allows us to keep the amount of boilerplate code to a minimum and also demonstrate the approach in a simpler form.

PagedHeadListView - Android boosted ListView supporting paginated header with a new material page indicator

  •    Java

If you are looking for a listview with a paged header this is the dependency you are looking for. With PagedHeadListView you will be able to set your own fragments as new pages for the header, and a brand new indicator will be added automatically. You can play with all the custom attributes provided with the library to set indicator colors and position, ViewPager drag animation, and touch behaviour for the header view. PagedHeadListView supports API 11 - Android SDK 3.0 (HoneyComb) as minimum. This lib brings a custom ListView class called PagedHeadListView to the final user. Use it to integrate the component in your own Android application. You will not need to create your own code with FragmentStatePagerAdapter or ViewPager by yourself for creating this cool user experience, as the library does the boring work for you.

MultiType - An Android library to create multiple item types list views easily and flexibly

  •    Java

An Android library to create multiple item types list views easily and flexibly. Previously, when we need to develop a complex RecyclerView / ListView, it is a difficult and troublesome work. We should override the getItemViewType() of RecyclerView.Adapter , add some types, and create some ViewHolders relating to those types. Once we need to add a new item type, we have to go to the original adapter file and modify some old codes carefully, and these adapter classes will get more complicated.

LastAdapter - Don't write a RecyclerView adapter again. Not even a ViewHolder!

  •    Kotlin

The list of items can be an ObservableList if you want to get the adapter automatically updated when its content changes, or a simple List if you don't need to use this feature. The LayoutHandler interface allows you to use different layouts based on more complex criteria. Its one single method receives the item and the position and returns the layout resource id.

android-clean-architecture-boilerplate - An android boilerplate project using clean architecture

  •    Kotlin

Note: The use of clean architecture may seem over-complicated for this sample project. However, this allows us to keep the amount of boilerplate code to a minimum and also demonstrate the approach in a simpler form. The sample app when run will show you a simple list of all the Bufferoos (Buffer team members!).

Android-CleanArchitecture-Kotlin - This is a movies sample app in Kotlin, which is part of a serie of blog posts I have written about architecting android application using different approaches

  •    Kotlin

The purpose of this repo is to follow up Clean Architecture principles by bringing them to Android. It is worth saying that the idea is to take advantage of the Kotlin Programming Language features plus also pull in lessons learned and ideas from other interesting aproaches like Functional Programming. There is another Android Clean Architecture repository written in Java: https://github.com/android10/Android-CleanArchitecture with really nice discussions: https://github.com/android10/Android-CleanArchitecture/issues. Article, lessons learned and some more material coming up. Check the following known bugs and TODO list.

Theatre - Pet project using Clean Architecture + MVVM + Reactive Extensions + Android Architecture Components

  •    Kotlin

Pet project using Clean Architecture + MVVM + Reactive Extensions + Android Architecture Components. The data is fetched from LondonTheatreDirect API. The overriding rule of this architecture says that the source code dependencies always point inwards. The outer tiers can only dependent of inner tiers. Therefore, the inner tiers know nothing about the outer tiers. The more further you go through the concentric circles, the higher level the software becomes. Which means that the level of abstraction increases.
