haven - Haven is for people who need a way to protect their personal spaces and possessions without compromising their own privacy, through an Android app and on-device sensors

  •        20

Haven is for people who need a way to protect their personal spaces and possessions without compromising their own privacy. It is an Android application that leverages on-device sensors to provide monitoring and protection of physical spaces. Haven turns any Android phone into a motion, sound, vibration and light detector, watching for unexpected guests and unwanted intruders. We designed Haven for investigative journalists, human rights defenders, and people at risk of forced disappearance to create a new kind of herd immunity. By combining the array of sensors found in any smartphone, with the world's most secure communications technologies, like Signal and Tor, Haven prevents the worst kind of people from silencing citizens without getting caught in the act. View our full Haven App Overview presentation for more about the origins and goals of the project.

upm - UPM is a high level repository that provides software drivers for a wide variety of commonly used sensors and actuators

  •    C++

The UPM repository provides software drivers for a wide variety of commonly used sensors and actuators. These software drivers interact with the underlying hardware platform (or microcontroller), as well as with the attached sensors, through calls to MRAA APIs. Programmers can access the interfaces for each sensor by including the sensor’s corresponding header file and instantiating the associated sensor class. In the typical use case, a constructor initializes the sensor based on parameters that identify the sensor, the I/O protocol used and the pin location of the sensor.

swatd - Run a script when one or more sensors fail.

  •    C

SWATd lets you configure 'sensors' that check your PC's external environment. When enough sensors 'fail', SWATd will run a script for you. Sensors are commands or scripts that get executed repeatedly. A sensor is said to fail when its exit code makes a transition from zero (working) to non-zero (not working). This makes configuration easy and powerful. For example, you can make a sensor that checks if your website is online, and then make a command to alert you when the sensor fails.

It allows application developers to visualize system and application level events on a timeline with panning and zooming functionality, easily see various aggregated statistics since the device was last fully charged, and select an application and inspect the metrics that impact battery specific to the chosen application. It also allows an A/B comparison of two bugreports, highlighting differences in key battery related metrics.Install Docker.

find - High-precision indoor positioning framework for most wifi-enabled devices.

  •    Go

The system is built on two main components - a server and a fingerprinting device. The fingerprinting device (computer program or android app) sends the specified data to the machine learning server which stores the fingerprints and analyzes them. It then returns the result to the device and stores the result on the server for accessing via a web browser or triggering via hooks.More questions? See the unabbreviated FAQ.

Applying_EANNs - A 2D Unity simulation in which cars learn to navigate themselves through different courses

  •    ASP

Cars have to navigate through a course without touching the walls or any other obstacles of the course. A car has five front-facing sensors which measure the distance to obstacles in a given direction. The readings of these sensors serve as the input of the car's neural network. Each sensor points into a different direction, covering a front facing range of approximately 90 degrees. The maximum range of a sensor is 10 unity units. The output of the Neural Network then determines the car’s current engine and turning force. If you would like to tinker with the parameters of the simulation, you can do so in the Unity Editor. If you would simply like to run the simulation with default parameters, you can start the built file [Builds/Applying EANNs.exe](Builds/Applying EANNs.exe).

maltrail - Malicious traffic detection system

  •    Python

Maltrail is a malicious traffic detection system, utilizing publicly available (black)lists containing malicious and/or generally suspicious trails, along with static trails compiled from various AV reports and custom user defined lists, where trail can be anything from domain name (e.g. zvpprsensinaix.com for Banjori malware), URL (e.g. http://109.162.38.120/harsh02.exe for known malicious executable), IP address (e.g. 185.130.5.231 for known attacker) or HTTP User-Agent header value (e.g. sqlmap for automatic SQL injection and database takeover tool). Also, it uses (optional) advanced heuristic mechanisms that can help in discovery of unknown threats (e.g. new malware). Maltrail is based on the Traffic -> Sensor <-> Server <-> Client architecture. Sensor(s) is a standalone component running on the monitoring node (e.g. Linux platform connected passively to the SPAN/mirroring port or transparently inline on a Linux bridge) or at the standalone machine (e.g. Honeypot) where it "monitors" the passing Traffic for blacklisted items/trails (i.e. domain names, URLs and/or IPs). In case of a positive match, it sends the event details to the (central) Server where they are being stored inside the appropriate logging directory (i.e. LOG_DIR described in the Configuration section). If Sensor is being run on the same machine as Server (default configuration), logs are stored directly into the local logging directory. Otherwise, they are being sent via UDP messages to the remote server (i.e. LOG_SERVER described in the Configuration section).

android-AutofillFramework - This sample demonstrates the use of the Autofill Framework

  •    Java

This sample demonstrates the use of the Autofill Framework. It includes implementations of client Activities with views that should be autofilled, and a Service that can provide autofill data to client Activities. This sample demonstrates the use of the Autofill framework from the service side and the client side. In practice, only a small handful of apps will develop Autofill services because a device will only have one service as default at a time, and there is just a small number of 3rd-party apps providing these services (typically password managers). However, all apps targeting O with any autofillable fields should follow the necessary steps to 1) ensure their views can be autofilled and 2) optimize their autofill performance. Most of the time, there is little to no extra code involved, but the use of custom views and views with virtual child views requires more work.

linuxdeploy - Install and run GNU/Linux on Android

  •    Javascript

This application is open source software for quick and easy installation of the operating system (OS) GNU/Linux on your Android device. The application creates a disk image on a flash card, mounts it and installs an OS distribution. Applications of the new system are run in a chroot environment and working together with the Android platform. All changes made on the device are reversible, i.e. the application and components can be removed completely. Installation of a distribution is done by downloading files from official mirrors online over the internet. The application requires superuser rights (ROOT).

Adafruit_Sensor - Common sensor library

  •    C++

Many small embedded systems exist to collect data from sensors, analyse the data, and either take an appropriate action or send that sensor data to another system for processing. One of the many challenges of embedded systems design is the fact that parts you used today may be out of production tomorrow, or system requirements may change and you may need to choose a different sensor down the road.

material-camera - One of the most difficult APIs on Android, made easy in a small library.

  •    Java

Android's video recording APIs are very difficult to figure out, especially since a lot of manufacturers like to mount their camera sensors upside down or sideways. This library is a result of lots of research and experimentation to get video recording to work universally.Please report any issues you have, and include device information. Camera behavior can be unpredictable across different Android manufacturers and versions, especially on pre-Lollipop devices. I've done quite a bit of testing, but it's possible I missed something.
