cannon.js - A lightweight 3D physics engine written in JavaScript.

  •    Javascript

Inspired by three.js and ammo.js, and driven by the fact that the web lacks a physics engine, here comes cannon.js. The rigid body physics engine includes simple collision detection, various body shapes, contacts, friction and constraints. The sample code below creates a sphere on a plane, steps the simulation, and prints the sphere simulation to the console. Note that Cannon.js uses SI units (metre, kilogram, second, etc.).

simbody - High-performance C++ multibody dynamics/physics library for simulating articulated biomechanical and mechanical systems like vehicles, robots, and the human skeleton

  •    C++

Simbody is a high-performance, open-source toolkit for science- and engineering-quality simulation of articulated mechanisms, including biomechanical structures such as human and animal skeletons, mechanical systems like robots, vehicles, and machines, and anything else that can be described as a set of rigid bodies interconnected by joints, influenced by forces and motions, and restricted by constraints. Simbody includes a multibody dynamics library for modeling motion in generalized/internal coordinates in O(n) time. This is sometimes called a Featherstone-style physics engine. Read more about Simbody at the Simbody homepage.

particulate-js - Particle physics micro library.

  •    Javascript

Particulate.js is a JavaScript particle physics micro library designed to be simple, extensible, fast, and stable; it is capable of running a simulation with tens of thousands of particles and tens of thousands of constraints in real time. The core system is derived from that described in Advanced Character Physics by Thomas Jakobsen. The library provides an interface for defining a particle system with many inter-particle constraints and globally acting forces. Internal management of particle positions and state is designed to be easily integrated with a WebGL rendering pipeline, although no specific rendering scheme is required.

newton-dynamics - Newton Dynamics is an integrated solution for real time simulation of physics environments

  •    C++

Newton dynamics is a realistic, cross-platform physics simulation library. It can easily be integrated into games and game engines and provides top of its class performance and simulation stability. Ongoing development and a permissive license makes Newton Dynamics a top choice for all kinds of projects from scientific projects to game engines. There are Unix makefiles in the project folders mentioned above, but it is highly recommended to use CMake instead.

Physijs - Physics plugin for Three.js

  •    Javascript

Physijs brings a very easy to use interface to the three.js framework. One of the reasons three.js is so popular is because it is so incredibly easy for graphics newbies to get into 3D programming. Physijs takes that philosophy to heart and makes physics simulations just as easy to run. In fact, there are just five easy steps that must be taken to make a 3D scene come alive. Physijs is built on top of ammo.js (although there is also a cannon.js branch) and runs the physics simulation in a separate thread (via web worker) to avoid impacting in your application's performance and taking up your 3D rendering time.

YapAnimator - Your fast and friendly physics-based animation system.

  •    Swift

Because it's insanely easy to use and makes beautiful animations, that's why. There are other physics-based animation systems out there (e.g. UIKit's spring animations, Facebook's Pop), but they still require writing too much code, bookkeeping, and hand-holding for our taste. YapAnimator represents a distilled n-th iteration of code that we've been using in our own apps for years. We find it invaluable in our day-to-day and think that you will too. YapAnimator comes with a handy extension bolted on to CALayer and UIView/NSView, providing one-liner animations under the animatedLayer and animated properties, respectively.

picongpu - Particle-in-cell simulations for the exascale era :sparkles:

  •    C++

PIConGPU is a fully relativistic, manycore, 3D3V particle-in-cell (PIC) code. The Particle-in-Cell algorithm is a central tool in plasma physics. It describes the dynamics of a plasma by computing the motion of electrons and ions in the plasma based on Maxwell's equations. As one of our supported compute platforms, GPUs provide a computational performance of several TFLOP/s at considerable lower invest and maintenance costs compared to multi CPU-based compute architectures of similar performance. The latest high-performance systems (TOP500) are enhanced by accelerator hardware that boost their peak performance up to the multi-PFLOP/s level. With its outstanding performance and scalability to more than 18'000 GPUs, PIConGPU was one of the finalists of the 2013 Gordon Bell Prize.

wobble - A tiny (~1

  •    TypeScript

A tiny (~1.7 KB gzipped) spring physics micro-library that models a damped harmonic oscillator. Use wobble if you need a very small and accurate damped harmonic spring simulation in your animation library or application. wobble intentionally only provides a way to animate a scalar value according to equations governing damped harmonic motion. That's all this library will ever do -- any other functionality (integration with [insert ui library here], multi-dimensional springs, a nice API around chaining springs together, etc.) is left to the reader to implement.

rigs-of-rods - Main development repository for Rigs of Rods soft-body physics simulator

Available commands depend on the vehicle you are in. For a graphical overview refer to doc/keysheet.pdf For an indepth view refer to $user/config/input.map Please note that certain vehicles come with their own specific commands not represented in the above sources. In this case see the vehicle's documentation or go to Menu -> Simulation -> Show vehicle description. Rigs is Rods can also be played with Gamepads, Joysticks, Wheels and other controllers, including support for Force Feedback. Rigs of Rods only comes with a very small selection of vehicles and terrains. For the best experience download some mods from the Rigs of Rods Mod Repository. The Showroom Subforum may contain additional content not found in the Mod Repository. If you want to get going quickly have a look at modpacks which can be found in the Mod Repository as well.

Rebound - Spring Animations for Android

  •    Java

Rebound is a java library that models spring dynamics. Rebound spring models can be used to create animations that feel natural by introducing real world physics to your application.Rebound is not a general purpose physics library; however, spring dynamics can be used to drive a wide variety of animations. The simplicity of Rebound makes it easy to integrate and use as a building block for creating more complex components like pagers, toggles, and scrollers.

practical-ui-physics - Learn basic physics for UI

  •    Javascript

Demos for my talk Practical UI physics. Adding physics-based motion to UI can make digital interactions feel natural, comfortable, and delightful. So why is it so hard to get right, especially on the web? While mobile device SDK's have physics-based libraries built-in, web developers are missing a straight-forward way to add physics to their sites. This talk aims to solve that. Physics is a huge subject, and physics programming is often intimidating. But for UI developers, we need only to take advantage of its core principles in a practical model. This talk will cover the fundamentals of physics programming, how to develop your own physics model in JavaScript, and how to use that model to make UI feel natural.
