jsonb_accessor - Adds typed jsonb backed fields to your ActiveRecord models.

  •        68

Adds typed jsonb backed fields as first class citizens to your ActiveRecord models. This gem is similar in spirit to HstoreAccessor, but the jsonb column in PostgreSQL has a few distinct advantages, mostly around nested documents and support for collections. It also adds generic scopes for querying jsonb columns.

jsquery - JsQuery – json query language with GIN indexing support

  •    C

JsQuery – is a language to query jsonb data type, introduced in PostgreSQL release 9.4. It's primary goal is to provide an additional functionality to jsonb (currently missing in PostgreSQL), such as a simple and effective way to search in nested objects and arrays, more comparison operators with indexes support. We hope, that jsquery will be eventually a part of PostgreSQL.

zson - ZSON is a PostgreSQL extension for transparent JSONB compression

  •    C

ZSON is a PostgreSQL extension for transparent JSONB compression. Compression is based on a shared dictionary of strings most frequently used in specific JSONB documents (not only keys, but also values, array elements, etc). In some cases ZSON can save half of your disk space and give you about 10% more TPS. Memory is saved as well. See docs/benchmark.md. Everything depends on your data and workload, though. Don't believe any benchmarks, re-check everything on your data, configuration, hardware, workload and PostgreSQL version.

mobility - Pluggable Ruby translation framework

  •    Ruby

Mobility is a gem for storing and retrieving translations as attributes on a class. These translations could be the content of blog posts, captions on images, tags on bookmarks, or anything else you might want to store in different languages. For examples of what Mobility can do, see the Companies using Mobility section below. Storage of translations is handled by customizable "backends" which encapsulate different storage strategies. The default way to store translations is to put them all in a set of two shared tables, but many alternatives are also supported, including translatable columns and model translation tables, as well as database-specific storage solutions such as json/jsonb and Hstore (for PostgreSQL).

GraphpostgresQL - GraphQL for Postgres

  •    PLpgSQL

GraphpostgresQL is inspired by Facebook's graphql. By using table introspection, GraphpostgresQL is able to follow foreign keys and index into complex datatypes like json, jsonb and hstore. GraphpostgresQL is alpha quality and has undergone neither extensive optimization nor comprehensive testing. To use it for production workloads would needlessly tempt fate.

logidze - Database changes log for Rails

  •    Ruby

Logidze provides tools for logging DB records changes. Just like audited and paper_trail do (but faster). Logidze allows you to create a DB-level log (using triggers) and gives you an API to browse this log. The log is stored with the record itself in JSONB column. No additional tables required. Currently, only PostgreSQL 9.5+ is supported (for PostgreSQL 9.4 try jsonbx extension).

hstore_accessor - Adds typed hstore-backed field support to ActiveRecord models.

  •    Ruby

Hstore Accessor allows you to treat fields on an hstore column as though they were actual columns being picked up by ActiveRecord. This is especially handy when trying to avoid sparse columns while making use of single table inheritence. Hstore Accessor currently supports ActiveRecord versions 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 5.0, and 5.1. The hstore_accessor method accepts the name of the hstore column you'd like to use and a hash with keys representing fields and values indicating the type to be stored in that field. The available types are: string, integer, float, decimal, datetime, date, boolean, array, and hash. It is available on an class that inherits from ActiveRecord::Base.

php-activerecord - ActiveRecord implementation for PHP

  •    PHP

Active record is an approach to access data in a database. A database table or view is wrapped into a class, thus an object instance is tied to a single row in the table. After creation of an object, a new row is added to the table upon save. Any object loaded gets its information from the database; when an object is updated, the corresponding row in the table is also updated. The wrapper class implements accessor methods or properties for each column in the table or view. More details can be found here.

search_cop - Search engine like fulltext query support for ActiveRecord

  •    Ruby

Thus, you can hand out a search query string to your models and you, your app's admins and/or users will get powerful query features without the need for integrating additional third party search servers, since SearchCop can use fulltext index capabilities of your RDBMS in a database agnostic way (currently MySQL and PostgreSQL fulltext indices are supported) and optimizes the queries to make optimal use of them. zombodb - Making Postgres and Elasticsearch work together like it's 2018

  •    C

ZomboDB brings powerful text-search and analytics features to Postgres by using Elasticsearch as an index type. Its comprehensive query language and SQL functions enable new and creative ways to query your relational data. From a technical perspective, ZomboDB is a 100% native Postgres extension that implements Postgres' Index Access Method API. As a native Postgres index type, ZomboDB allows you to CREATE INDEX ... USING zombodb on your existing Postgres tables. At that point, ZomboDB takes over and fully manages the remote Elasticsearch index and guarantees transactionally-correct text-search query results.

p5.speech - Web Audio Speech Synthesis / Recognition for p5.js

  •    Javascript

p5.speech is a JavaScript library that provides simple, clear access to the Web Speech and Speech Recognition APIs, allowing for the easy creation of sketches that can talk and listen. It consists of two object classes (p5.Speech and p5.SpeechRec) along with accessor functions to speak and listen for text, change parameters (synthesis voices, recognition models, etc.), and retrieve callbacks from the system. Speech recognition requires launching from a server (e.g. a python simpleserver on a local machine).

MagicalRecord - Super Awesome Easy Fetching for Core Data 1!!!11!!!!1!

  •    Objective-C

In software engineering, the active record pattern is a design pattern found in software that stores its data in relational databases. It was named by Martin Fowler in his book Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture. The interface to such an object would include functions such as Insert, Update, and Delete, plus properties that correspond more-or-less directly to the columns in the underlying database table. Active record is an approach to accessing data in a database. A database table or view is wrapped into a class; thus an object instance is tied to a single row in the table. After creation of an object, a new row is added to the table upon save. Any object loaded gets its information from the database; when an object is updated, the corresponding row in the table is also updated. The wrapper class implements accessor methods or properties for each column in the table or view.
