long.js - A Long class for representing a 64-bit two's-complement integer value.

  •        23

A Long class for representing a 64 bit two's-complement integer value derived from the Closure Library for stand-alone use and extended with unsigned support. As of ECMA-262 5th Edition, "all the positive and negative integers whose magnitude is no greater than 253 are representable in the Number type", which is "representing the doubleprecision 64-bit format IEEE 754 values as specified in the IEEE Standard for Binary Floating-Point Arithmetic". The maximum safe integer in JavaScript is 253-1.

php-long-polling - An extremely simple example of a "real-time" self-updating page using long-polling

  •    PHP

A very simple demonstration of long-polling with AJAX (jQuery) and PHP. Long-polling makes near "real-time" applications possible. The client does not request new data every X seconds/minutes, the client gets new data delivered when there is new data (push-notification style). This is an improved, cleaned and documented fork of https://github.com/lincolnbrito/php-ajax-long-polling ! Big thanks, man. Send a request to the server, get an instant answer. Do this every x seconds, minutes etc. to keep your application up-to-date. But: This costs a lot of requests.

long-stack-traces - Long stacktraces for V8 implemented in user-land JavaScript

  •    Javascript

Long stacktraces for V8 implemented in user-land JavaScript. Supports Chrome/Chromium and Node.js. NOTE: there are various issues such as memory leaks (due to very long stack traces). This should not be used in production.

countdownjs - A simple JavaScript API for producing an accurate, intuitive description of the timespan between two Date instances

  •    Javascript

A simple JavaScript API for producing an accurate, intuitive description of the timespan between two Date instances. While seemingly a trivial problem, the human descriptions for a span of time tend to be fuzzier than a computer naturally computes. More specifically, months are an inherently messed up unit of time. For instance, when a human says "in 1 month" how long do they mean? Banks often interpret this as thirty days but that is only correct one third of the time. People casually talk about a month being four weeks long but there is only one month in a year which is four weeks long and it is only that long about three quarters of the time. Even intuitively defining these terms can be problematic. For instance, what is the date one month after January 31st, 2001? JavaScript will happily call this March 3rd, 2001. Humans will typically debate either February 28th, 2001 or March 1st, 2001. It seems there isn't a "right" answer, per se.

long-range-arena - Long Range Arena for Benchmarking Efficient Transformers

  •    Python

Long-range arena is an effort toward systematic evaluation of efficient transformer models. The project aims at establishing benchmark tasks/dtasets using which we can evaluate transformer-based models in a systematic way, by assessing their generalization power, computational efficiency, memory foot-print, etc. Long-range arena also implements different variants of Transformer models in JAX, using Flax.

gnomon - Utility to annotate console logging statements with timestamps and find slow processes

  •    Javascript

A command line utility, a bit like moreutils's ts, to prepend timestamp information to the standard output of another command. Useful for long-running processes where you'd like a historical record of what's taking so long.Piping anything to gnomon will prepend a timestamp to each line, indicating how long that line was the last line in the buffer--that is, how long it took the next line to appear. By default, gnomon will display the seconds elapsed between each line, but that is configurable.

Libcurve - An encryption and authentication library for ZeroMQ applications

  •    C

Curve implements the CurveZMQ elliptic curve security mechanism, for use in ZeroMQ applications. This library is primarily a reference implementation for the CurveZMQ specification but may also be used for end-to-end security. CurveZMQ creates encrypted sessions ("connections") between two peers using short term keys that it securely exchanges using long term keys. When the session is over, both sides discard their short term keys, rendering the encrypted data unreadable, even if the long term keys are captured. It is not designed for long term encryption of data.

bitcoin-trader - :moneybag: Bitcoin trading bot based on a simple exponential moving average (trading via Coinbase)

  •    Python

💰 Bitcoin trading bot based on a simple exponential moving average (trading via Coinbase).I'm trying to write a simple bot that sells bitcoin the moment it makes enough profit to pay for transaction fees, plus a small margin. It will do this thousands of times per day, and hopefully profit in the long run as long as the market is volatile and trending upwards (i.e. as long as not too many people are running bots exactly like this one).

BuckyClient - Collect performance data from the client

  •    CoffeeScript

Bucky is a client and server for sending performance data from the client into statsd+graphite, OpenTSDB, or any other stats aggregator of your choice. It can automatically measure how long your pages take to load, how long AJAX requests take and how long various functions take to run. Most importantly, it's taking the measurements on actual page loads, so the data has the potential to be much more valuable than in vitro measurements.

longjohn - Long stack traces for node.js inspired by https://github.com/tlrobinson/long-stack-traces

  •    CoffeeScript

I wrote this while trying to add long-stack-traces to my server and realizing that there were issues with support of EventEmitter::removeListener. The node HTTP Server will begin to leak callbacks and any of your own code that relies on removing listeners would not work as anticipated. Longjohn collects a large amount of data in order to provide useful stack traces. While it is very helpful in development and testing environments, it is not recommended to use longjohn in production. The data collection puts a lot of strain on V8's garbage collector and can greatly slow down heavily-loaded applications.

Cortex - A multitenant, horizontally scalable Prometheus as a Service

  •    Go

Cortex provides horizontally scalable, highly available, multi-tenant, long term storage for Prometheus. Cortex can run across multiple machines in a cluster, exceeding the throughput and storage of a single machine. This enables you to send the metrics from multiple Prometheus servers to a single Cortex cluster and run "globally aggregated" queries across all data in a single place. Cortex makes your PromQL queries blazin' fast through aggressive parallelization and caching.

wtdbg2 - Redbean: A fuzzy Bruijn graph approach to long noisy reads assembly

  •    C

Wtdbg2 is a de novo sequence assembler for long noisy reads produced by PacBio or Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). It assembles raw reads without error correction and then builds the consensus from intermediate assembly output. Wtdbg2 is able to assemble the human and even the 32Gb Axolotl genome at a speed tens of times faster than CANU and FALCON while producing contigs of comparable base accuracy. During assembly, wtdbg2 chops reads into 1024bp segments, merges similar segments into a vertex and connects vertices based on the segment adjacency on reads. The resulting graph is called fuzzy Bruijn graph (FBG). It is akin to De Bruijn graph but permits mismatches/gaps and keeps read paths when collapsing k-mers. The use of FBG distinguishes wtdbg2 from the majority of long-read assemblers.

Luigi - Python module that helps you build complex pipelines of batch jobs

  •    Python

The purpose of Luigi is to address all the plumbing typically associated with long-running batch processes. You want to chain many tasks, automate them, and failures will happen. These tasks can be anything, but are typically long running things like Hadoop jobs, dumping data to/from databases, running machine learning algorithms, or anything else.
