Zopfli - Compression Algorithm from Google

Zopfli Compression Algorithm is a new zlib (gzip, deflate) compatible compressor. This compressor takes more time (~100x slower), but compresses around 5% better than zlib and better than any other zlib-compatible compressor we have found.

zlib - A Massively Spiffy Yet Delicately Unobtrusive Compression Library

zlib is a general purpose data compression library. All the code is thread safe. It is ported to different programming languages like Java, CSharp, Python and Perl.

Lz4 - Extremely Fast Compression algorithm

LZ4 is a very fast lossless compression based on well-known LZ77 (Lempel-Ziv) algorithm, providing compression speed at 300 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speeds up and beyond 1GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.

Libarchive - C library and command-line tools for reading and writing tar, cpio, zip, ISO, and other

This distribution bundle includes the following components: libarchive: a library for reading and writing streaming archives, tar: the 'bsdtar' program is a full-featured 'tar' replacement built on libarchive, cpio: the 'bsdcpio' program is a different interface to essentially the same functionality. It automatically handles archives compressed with gzip, bzip2, lzip, xz, lzma, or compress.

PJL Compressing Filter

A J2EE servlet filter which compresses data written to the response. It supports several algorithms (gzip, deflate, etc.) and emphasizes minimal memory usage and high throughput. Also provides detailed performance stats. Feel free to fork pjl-comp-filter on Github:

It supports files and folders multi-compression (UPX, ZIP, 7Z) and archives extraction (several formats). It includes an intelligent UPX compression mode, self-extracting archive creation, encryption/decryption, external compressors and much more.
