ROME is an set of Java tools for parsing, generating and publishing RSS and Atom feeds. The core ROME library depends only on the JDOM XML parser and supports parsing, generating and converting all of the popular RSS and Atom formats including RSS 0.90, RSS 0.91 Netscape, RSS 0.91 Userland, RSS 0.92, RSS 0.93, RSS 0.94, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, Atom 0.3, and Atom 1.0. You can parse to an RSS object model, an Atom object model or an abstract SyndFeed model that can model either family of formats.

Expat is an XML parser library written in C. It is a stream-oriented parser in which an application registers handlers for things the parser might find in the XML document (like start tags).

TagSoup - SAX-compliant parser in Java

TagSoup, a SAX-compliant parser written in Java that, instead of parsing well-formed or valid XML, parses HTML as it is found in the wild: poor, nasty and brutish, though quite often far from short. TagSoup is designed for people who have to process this stuff using some semblance of a rational application design. TagSoup also includes a command-line processor that reads HTML files and can generate either clean HTML or well-formed XML that is a close approximation to XHTML.

Nutch is open source web-search software. It builds on Lucene Java, adding web-specifics, such as a crawler, a link-graph database, parsers for HTML and other document formats, etc.

Subversion is an open source version control system. Founded in 2000 by CollabNet, Inc., the Subversion project and software have seen incredible success over the past decade. The open source community has used Subversion widely: for example in projects such as Apache Software Foundation, Free Pascal, FreeBSD, GCC, Django, Ruby, Mono, SourceForge, ExtJS, Tigris.org, PHP and MediaWiki. Google Code also provides Subversion hosting for their open source projects.

HyperGraphDB - Database for Storing Strongly-Typed Hypergraphs

HyperGraphDB is a general purpose, open-source data storage mechanism based on a powerful knowledge management formalism known as directed hypergraphs. While a persistent memory model designed mostly for Knowledge management, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic web projects, it can also be used as an embedded object-oriented database for Java projects of all sizes. It could also be used as graph database or as (non-SQL) relational database.

Emmet — The Essential Toolkit for Web Developers

Emmet (formerly Zen Coding) is a web-developer’s toolkit that can greatly improve your HTML & CSS workflow. With Emmet, you can type CSS-like expressions that can be dynamically parsed, and produce output depending on what you type in the abbreviation. Emmet is developed and optimised for web-developers whose workflow depends on HTML/XML and CSS, but can be used with programming languages too.

Fix8 - FIX (Financial Information eXchange Protocol) Framework

A fresh approach to FIX (Financial Information eXchange Protocol). Statically compile your FIX xml schema and quickly build your FIX application on top. With low latency performance in mind, this framework is designed to streamline the development of custom FIX interfaces. Using one of the standard FIX schemas you can have a FIX client or server up and running very quickly.

iText - Java PDF library

Mostly web developers will love it to generate PDF documents and reports based on data from an XML file or a database and serves it to the browser. It has support of adding bookmarks, watermarks, Encryption, Form filling and lot more.

TagSoup - HTML/XML parser for Haskell

TagSoup is a library for parsing HTML/XML. It supports the HTML 5 specification, and can be used to parse either well-formed XML, or unstructured and malformed HTML from the web. The library also provides useful functions to extract information from an HTML document, making it ideal for screen-scraping.
