LCDproc controls various LCD and VFD devices in a standardized way, and ships with a client to display various system statistics. Supports multiple platforms (Linux, *BSD, Solaris). Client/server model allows multiple clients to use one display.
NCID is Caller ID (CID) distributed over a network. The NCID package includes a server, gateways, and a client with output modules. Additional packages are available. The LCDncid client package uses LCDproc to display Caller ID on a LCD display.

This program allows using any phone supporting phone and equipped with a camera to decode numerical data of LCD displays and to store them in text/binary form for further processing. Currently work in progress, program does not work unless target display is under good ligthning conditions. Written in Python (Pys60). Any "timelapse recording" program is suitable to produce image sequence to be then processed by means of PC or phone itself.
