This distribution bundle includes the following components: libarchive: a library for reading and writing streaming archives, tar: the 'bsdtar' program is a full-featured 'tar' replacement built on libarchive,
cpio: the 'bsdcpio' program is a different interface to
essentially the same functionality. It automatically handles archives compressed with gzip, bzip2, lzip, xz, lzma, or compress.
LZ4 is a very fast lossless compression based on well-known LZ77 (Lempel-Ziv) algorithm, providing compression speed at 300 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speeds up and beyond 1GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.
Abbrevia is a compression toolkit for Delphi, C++Builder, Kylix, and Free Pascal. It supports compressing and decompressing PKZIP, Microsoft CAB, tar, gzip, and bzip2 archives, and can create self-extracting executables. On Windows it also provides Delphi wrappers for the LZMA, Bzip2, and WavPack SDKs, and PPMd decompression. Abbrevia also has several visual controls that simplify displaying and manipulating archives, including treeview and listview components.
Partition Image is an utility to save partitions (ext2/3fs, reiserfs, fat16, fat32, hpfs, ntfs) into an image file. Only used blocks of the partition are saved, and the image can be compressed in gzip or bzip2 format. You can split the image into small f
7-Zip is a file archiver with the high compression ratio. The program supports 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP, WIM, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR, Z.
Partimage is opensource disk backup software. It saves partitions having a supported filesystem on a sector basis to an image file. Although it runs under Linux, Windows and most Linux filesystems are supported. The image file can be compressed to save disk space and transfer time and can be split into multiple files to be copied to CDs or DVDs.
HBase provides support to handle BigTable - billions of rows X millions of columns. It is a scalable, distributed, versioned, column-oriented store modeled after Google's Bigtable and runs on top of HDFS (Hadoop Distributed Filesystem). It features compression, in-memory operation per-column. Data could be replicated between the nodes. HBase is used in Facebook and Twitter.
Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) is a professional open source system to create Windows installers. It is designed to be as small and flexible as possible and is therefore very suitable for internet distribution. NSIS is script-based and allows you to create the logic to handle even the most complex installation tasks. Many plug-ins and scripts are already available: you can create web installers, communicate with Windows and other software components.
