SummaryThis prototype web site will gather information on harmful algae from a variety of sources, and aggregrate it together. When a harmful algal bloom occurs, you can choose to view only information about the algae involved and the location it occurs in, with irrelevant information filtered out. The project is similar to the Encyclopedia of Life project, as it also deals with multiple data sources. Some data that is used by the event web site may also be used by the Encyclopedia of Life. The
IntroductionDarwin Core (DwC) has become a mature set of standards designed for sharing biodiversity data. Documentation including definitions and examples are provided for each term on the DwC website (http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/). However, the inherent generality of the documentation has lead to broad interpretation of the terms or confusion about which terms to use within a community. The goal of Apple Core is to tackle this issue for herbaria by providing detailed guidelines based on best practi
