New Open Source Web Browser Engine from Google and Mozilla
Servo is a web browser engine jointly developed by Mozilla and Samsung. Samsung has contributed an ARM backend to Rust and the build infrastructure necessary to cross-compile to Android, along with many other improvements. Servo is targeted for Android and ARM. It is written in the Rust language. Rust is a safe, concurrent programming language. It supports a mixture of imperative procedural, concurrent actor, object-oriented and pure functional styles. Rust also supports generic programming and meta programming, in both static and dynamic styles.
Google was using WebKit as its rendering engine in Chrome browser. It mentioned in its blog that it is adding complexity to enhance WebKit. It decided to fork WebKit and created new rendering engine called Blink. Blink will have improvement in internal architecture and other innovations.
Browsers are most widely used tool for common user and improving its useability is most important. Lot of applications, games run inside browser, let see who wins the race.
